Resident Evil 2 is my GOTY so I absolutely can't wait for this. And it's only four months away so I'm ecstatic. I'd love to have built a new PC by the time it releases but I'll probably still be short a couple hundred. Still, it'll be amazing regardless.

From what I read it’s just a letter from Jill will be placed in RE2 that links to RE3 events which is pretty cool I think.

For those who want to get in early, the game is £38.85 at Base: https://www.base.com/buy/product/reside ... 2rmps4.htm

The Resident Evil 2 demo is back up on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, but with the original 30-minute time limit removed. The Nemesis has also been added...although you don’t see him.

Some more news snippets:

Jill’s face is modelled on that of model Sasha Zotova.
There will be a steel book edition for certain markets.
Resident Evil 3 is almost finished already, with just some fine-tuning left in the next couple of months.
The first person scene in the trailer is playable in-game, though possibly not from that particular view point.
Like the PS1 original, there’s much higher levels of action in this one compared to RE2.

Some details from PSM UK are out there

-Nemesis will use an improved version of the AI developed for the Tyrant of Resident Evil 2 Remake.

-Sound will be very important in a city like Raccoon City, you will have to rely on it to anticipate dangers lying in wait around the corner.

-Confirmation that we will visit the streets, the shops, the Stagla petrol station, the Raccoon Press offices, the hospital. Not open world, but far more open then the original title.

-Nemesis was created in real life to be able to be scanned via photogrammetry.

-Mercenaries mode will not return, replaced by Project Resistance.

-The mutant worms are back.

-Carlos will be playable.

-There will not be the action choice mechanism as in the original, which could give different sequences of the game afterwards or an advantage over a danger.

-There will also be no more endings.

Oh come the strawberry float on

Mercenaries mode will not return, replaced by Project Resistance.

Is nothing sacred anymore?.

Will lose a permanent point on the score board for that nonsense. Heartbroken that The Mercenaries has been canned.

Are we sure this news is legit? PSM hasn’t been around since 2012.

I wonder if they’re going to introduce spiders into this one, or if they’ve scrapped them again.

It all sounds amazing to me. Shame about Mercenaries but the openness of the city sounds awesome.

The mention that this will not have choices like the original is disappointing. Also hoping Nemesis feels different to Mr X otherwise it will lose the feel of being stalked like the original RE3

The lack of the action choice mechanism seems the biggest absence to me. I've never played RE3 but had heard it was a great element and central to what makes it a unique experience, plus helps with replayability.

Far be it from me to question what they're doing though given RE2 turned out so brilliant. Having said that the dual storyline stuff is diminished in that over the original, so maybe this is just concessions they have to make to get them out.

Received the magazine this morning, it's Official PlayStation (which was abbreviated as PSM but not since 2000, if I remember correctly). Brilliant cover. I'm not one for posters either, but the one bundled with it is very impressive as well. If it didn't have the unavoidable fold lines, it'd definitely be a frame job.

I know that 'ethics in videogame journalism' is a bit of a punchline but genuinely shocked that Eurogamer's news story this afternoon linked to a Reddit post with full scans of OPM's as-yet unreleased issue. Pretty scummy behaviour imo.

It is, actually. Videogames magazines are, let's be honest, on their last legs, so the one time they do actually get a big exclusive in the modern era Eurogamer goes and directs everyone to read it on a thread hidden on reddit. Coincidently Resident Evil 2 was also OXM's biggest selling issue in 2018.

Though not the first time they've done that - Official PlayStation 2 magazine indirectly criticised them for similar behaviour in regards to the unveiling of The Getaway Black Monday.

I see they've now changed the link URL so that it directs to GamesRadar's preview of the issue. Decency restored.

Got my copy today too (thank you PS Rewards 3 issues for £1 offer) and agree about the poster. The fold lines wouldn't bother me just not sure I'd be "allowed" to have it on the wall in my little PC alcove

Nemesis looking awesome. I hope you still get item drops for defeating him occasionally as that really made for some tough "fight or flight" moments in the original.
