Inferno isn’t a joke seriously.

I shat myself when Nemesis literally power walked into me. Managed to reached the final save point before the final boss and as expected Nemesis love to spam cheap attacks.

I got the platinum trophy on this last night. For anyone who is struggling with the final final boss on Nightmare or Inferno, there is a trick that helped me a huge amount.

Once you’ve knocked him down once, go over to the red power supply and wait to push it in, wait until you hear Nemesis groan and then push the power supply in. If done correctly, this will leave Nemesis vulnerable and as long as you run back from him away from his body, you will have full access to all his weak points. If you push the power supply into the wall too late, Nemesis will kill you in one. You just have to listen for the sound cue, which is a groan as Nemesis wakes up.

Hope that helps!

I managed to beat Nemesis on Inferno by staying close to him (not too close!) so he wouldn't use his cheap ass E. Honda slaps combo as often. Dodge is the key. I literally punched the air when I grabbed that railgun for the final time.

Anyway with Inferno S rank done and dusted, I went back to assisted difficulty for the Minimalism trophy and that's the platinum nabbed. :msgreen:

S-C-S-S-S. Will play through Standard and try to get that final S ranking tomorrow.

A solid 9 game for me!

I defeated him and then didn’t shoot Nikolai correctly on one Inferno playthrough. I was absolutely raging.

Oh my word its good.

Expectations had been tempered going in, but it’s everything I hoped it would be. So intense, totally different tone, Jill is awesome and it has the same criss-crossy pathing and hidden away items of Resi 2. The creatures in the substation, oh my god. The most upsettingly grotesque thing I’ve ever seen in a game. Got vibes of creepy crawlys all over me for the half hour I continued to play after and still feeling itchy, so disturbing and glorious.

Love the extra emphasis on cutscenes and less lonely feel of it. I had thought that i was desensitised to the scariness of it but it definitely got me for a couple of good jump scares, in particular the police officer lunging out the car. That opening bit might get a bit tedious on replays and its a little disappointing to see several familiar zombie models from RE2 knocking around, but other than that so far its been sublime. It’s going to be tough to hold out until tomorrow evening to play more, but I think I’ll need it to recover :dread:

Going through it on nightmare and inferno was a bit frustrating at the start but it actually holds up pretty well to repeat play-throughs. You can press start and X(or circle I think) to skip the cut scenes but I rarely did because they're great. FWIW those creatures are Drain Deimos, which also appear in the original. They've had a particularly nasty redesign though, the implanting of the parasites was a particularly nasty and delightful addition to their repertoire.

Speaking of which, a couple of the later documents mention that Nemesis has had a parasite implanted which makes him temperamental and unreliable, and the parasites come from Umbrella Europe. They're probably just easter eggs, but...full remakes of Code Veronica and maybe even 4 potentially on the way? 4's set in "Not Spain" so it certainly fits that they've taken the parasite that was implanted in the Nemesis from the same dudes that kidnap Ashley...

It’s not SAME parasite from RE4. It was discovered by Wesker after the fall of Umbrella and retained the services of Ada to get a sample.

Also I did wonder how the strawberry float they tested to see if Nemesis can be controlled. Also it’s clear that they took inspiration from the Aliens’ Alien Queen for Nemesis especially it’s final form.

That's most unfortunate. I'm still clinging on to my dream though, as it's within the realms of possibility that they've used samples of Las Plagas to create the Nemesis parasite. :shifty:

Once you get used to the rhythm (missus) that attack, which I call the Eddie Honda Special, is actually very helpful as it means you can pick off a good five or six tumours very quickly. By far the cheapest attack, though, is when he roars, because you can't stop Jill from reeling from it and it leaves her wide open for the left-right-left administer smackies attack. Don't get me wrong, it took an age for me to work out Nigel Emesis's attack pattern on Nightmare/Inferno, but now I have I can usually smoke him in a few attempts. Haven't first-timed it yet, though.

Your pinch of salt may vary, but from what I can see, various files and other hints seem to point toward

a remake of Code Veronica.

Among other things, the main evidence supporting this is that Nicholai is no longer an Umbrella agent at all, but instead a double-agent for an organisation that is actively working against Umbrella, albeit with shady tactics including advocating Nicholai's spying and murdering of others. Other than a whole new organisation, the most likely company is HCF, the paramilitary group Wesker leads during the events of Code Veronica. There was also a file in Resident Evil 7 that stated tha tthe HCF had direct involvement in that game's plot, which also adds credence.

I for one really hope iit does go into Code Veronica for three reasons: first, CV is ace. Second, I'm a huge Wesker fan, he's a wonderfully magnifient backstabbing bastard. Third, I hated what they did with him in RE5 and his legacy in 6, it was all totally against his character and the weird origin was poor and not necessary. I'd love to see proper evil-special-forces, super-cats-eyes Albert again just being a proper dick to everyone, good and evil alike.

Anyway, yes. Resident Evil 3. What a game. I loved RE:2, but as there wasn't much in the way of new game plus, I haven't really been back. RE:3 totally fixes that. Peoples' main criticism is that it's short. Is it? Absolutely. My fastest run through is 0:58:08. However, what's key to remember is that that wasn't my first playthrough. That one was much longer (missus). Here's the thing: When you first play RE:3, it's a survival horror much in the vein of RE:2. However, once the credits have rolled, it stops being a survival horror and becomes Resident Evil: Arcade, where speed runs, self-imposed challenges and collecting achievements are the order of the day. It requires and is ripe for multiple, multiple playthroughs, and that's where the true length of the game is.

Is it short? On paper, absolutely. In practice, I've - stuck in the house as I am - reached 100% completion a while back, and am still playing it well past the fifty hour mark both to beat my own clear times and out of sheer enjoyment. Game of the Year so far for me by a country mile.

This game is seriously intense. I’ve just completed the Carlos section and several points through that bit had my heart pumping, it was so cool to see what happened to Marvin too.

The section before with Jill as well and the fight on the rooftop. My palms were sweaty as strawberry float afterwards :slol:

So far I’m a bit underwhelmed by Mr X, the encounters have been cool but based on the pre-launch hyperbole I was expecting a stalking menace, not someone you just run away from. Maybe there’s a bit different stuff to come and am excited to find out. The other slight negative so far is not being able to shoot limbs and stuff off zombies.

I’d be more than happy with that scenario to be honest. Any re-imagining of a pre-4 Resident Evil would be very welcome.

I just couldn’t get to grips with the rhythm of the slaps - the side to side ones were easy to get around by comparison, I was able to dodge and even perfect dodge them(and the punch things he did) pretty easily.

I'd love to see a game that actually tackles the fall of Umbrella. It'd scratch my Wesker itch too since in canon it was his personal testimony that nailed 'em.

Kinopio: I think it lessens the amount of damage you get, and/or very slightly speeds up the animation so you can get to dodging a certain eight foot tall nutcase again.

Reduced damage of the bite.

If you don’t manage to fill the meter on Inferno, one bite will kill you instantly.

I think it'd be nice to see as an addendum to one of the games or included as bonus footage in a future game or something. I don't see how it could be done in the survival-horror-action genre as it'd basically be a court case, and as we all know a game about the criminal justice system made by Capcom would never work. :shifty:

How very dare you! *Shakes walking stick*

I imagine it'd be quite easy though. Just have Wesker or someone deliberately releasing Umbrella's zombies etc, then in the ending cut to the court case summary. Bonus if the final chapter has a zombie jump the judge.

Just no opera-singing/half-trans/cloned/shite Lance Henriksen rip-off Umbrella executives though please.

Finished on Wednesday, loved it. Not quite as good as RE2 Remake but brilliant nonetheless. No problems with Nemesis and I managed to get to end without using the magnum (With a gooseberry fool ton of ammo for it) and loads of shotgun rounds/grenade launcher rounds. On my 2nd run through on Hardcore now as classic costumes!

Didn't like Carlos' hair with the classic costume though, thank strawberry float for mods :toot:

strawberry floating crikey that Hospital showdown was a bit tense. I literally used up all my ammo and my last grenade was exploded about half a second before it came to a close! Not sure how I’m going to cope with that on harder difficulties.

Other than that I feel like Standard is pitched a bit too easy. I guess they don’t want to put people off, but it’s only set pieces that have killed me so far, although zombie encounters can be tense you get so much ammo and health that dealing with them isn’t a problem at all. And as much as I like the advanced enemies, the fact that they all have a very set way to be killed means they’re a bit of a non-factor as well. So far there’s nothing as close to as troubling as the Sewer slug bastards in RE2, but given how frustrating they can be maybe that’s a good thing.

Really enjoyed the hospital section, feels like it was a bit of gift to those after something a bit more akin to the police station in RE2. It works to an extent but I’d come back to the game being too action orientated and the tweaking they’ve done to the zombies, to stop it really fulfilling that role. If the zombies reacted the way they did in RE2 and they took away 50% of your ammo then that section would have been absolute gang busters. It was still great regardless, but still.
