Everyones so hyped about this game, I, on the other hand, cant see why!
I dont know much about this game, but what i have seen, all it is is another Gears of war shooter game, with good graphics!

Maybe i have to play the other resident evils...?

So what i want to know is why is this game going to be so good?

Resident Evil carries a certain about of gaming history.

It is this legacy that drives the hype.

Plus Resi 4 was a awesome game.

Because it's the sequel to Resident Evil 4, which is one of the best games I've ever played.

Resident Evil 4 has a very neatly refined, action-driven kind of gameplay that was unique, and is still unusual to a certain extent, thouigh the idea has been cloned a few times now in the likes of Gears and Uncharted. RE5 looks to basically be the same kind of gameplay, given a high-definition sheen.

It has history. Not only that but they have always been great games. I still to this day remember the midnight opening (my first ever) in my local HMV. Red Bull had just come out and they were giving away free cans to help you play through the night! Good times!

Talking of Resident Evil, I got round to reading an article EDGE did on RE2 in their June issue. I think the setting & design is still the best in the series. Once you get used to the controls again, you realise the game hasn't really aged that much at all. It's just as brilliant as it was 10 years ago.

Are we talking about the fact that RE4 actually significantly predates Gears, or the fact that it doesn't use a cover system means it actually plays out very differently, more akin to a free-roaming House Of The Dead, with you facing down hordes of stupid enemies who nonetheless will hunt you down and swarm you with sheer numbers?

Both, not to mention that Gears itself borrows extremely heavily from earlier games.

Indeed. As much as I love 4, 2 has always been and still is my favourite in the series.

Go and play Resident Evil 4, NOW!

Resi 5 and all the others are nothing like Gears of War. Just atmospheric survival horror/action games at their finest.

I recently went through Resi 1, 2 and 3 on the cube and I just have to agree with this. Well, apart from it being the best game in the series. I much prefer Resi 4 to any of the earlier Resi's, but that's just me.

Why do people still insist on RE2 being the best? Maybe it's because I played REmake first but I still think RE2 is so much worse than RE or Nemesis. It doesn't help that the game is only about 5 hours long either and the police station has absolutely nothing on the mansion. The opening street scenes are probably the highlight of the game but after that it just doesn't touch the others. I still think it's a good game though

No it doesn't have a cover system. But that's the point. They didn't put one in so that you'd feel vulnerable fighting against the literally hundreds of zombies at a time. I can see why you might think it's not a great game, but compare it to others out there. This is miles ahead in terms of just about everything except camera.

There's more to it than just the gameplay too. The atmosphere, the storyline, it's all good.

You sir are an idiot, the first time I played Resi it had me hooked and every single game since (bar 4 and the stupid gun games) have got me more excited than an England game.

It has a history, it has so many plot holes that you get to fill them in yourself, its got some of the most memorable charatcers in a franchise.

And because it has zombies idiot chops.

Also REmake is my favourite as much as you all love 2, I didnt, the setting was awesome, they could remake iit and expand the police station and it would be a killer game.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.
