Can we bloody STOP with the blacked out text - I can't read it on my iPhone!!

In revelations, can you run while aiming, or just walk?

Can you quote the post and read it in the reply box?

That's what I normally have to do on my iPhone, quote it on a new page just to read blacked out spoilers.

And in Revelations you just walk while aiming.

They should include moving while aiming, but at a small price - some sort of movement bob where it's slightly more difficult to get a bead on the enemy.

Hmmm... Hadn't thought of that quote box solution, which works very nicely.

Moving while shooting sounds good - intelligent zombies does not.

So Capcom have apparently said that Revelations is the closest fans will ever get to classic Resident Evil.

That kind of sucks :/

Yes, it does suck... but I suppose, realistically, that the formula just wouldn't be the same now anyways. We've had Zero and REMake, so not sure we really need any more than that.

Of course, it may just be a ploy encouraging the faithful to buy 3DS's for Revelations.

Just because we won't get the classic Resident Evil style again doesn't mean we won't get the horror experience, more that we won't get the 'backtracking' style of play.

The tense parts of 5 in co-op were the brief moments that you were split up from your partner. It'd be nice if they did some more things like that for more prolonged amounts of time.

audiences and games have changed though.

and to its credits, Dead space showed that backtracking isn't needed, moving and shooting, claustrophobia and a certain degree of problem solving can all be acheived in a modern horror game, personnally i believe DS is a massive reason why resi 5 didn't do as well as expected

i love my old resi's, but to market it, and get folk talking about it and buying it, its gotta move on, derps don't want that style of game anymore.

that said, i'm interested to see how well silent hill down pour does, as it looks like the old SH's, exchange mist for heavy rain just.

Got a source? I'm kinda curious of the context considering I read something similar, but the way it was said could basically be used to describe Revelations too. It's gone back to horror, but hasn't went back to typewriters, fixed camera, "clunky" controls etc.. In that sense, RE is unlikely to ever be like the classic games again, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

It's entirely possible to modernise the "feel" of classic Resident Evil, and Revelations is proof enough of that. It even converted me on the moving-and-shooting gameplay, which I had previously thought *would* have distracted from it (but actually ends up adding to the horror).

That's the thing a lot of RE fans don't seem to get. There are other ways of building tension and horror than breaking the camera and controls, and making you backtrack with Macguffins to be able to save.

It was all going so well until you fell over yourself by dissing the fixed camera angles. :P

All these people still moaning over the camera angles. You just sucked at the game then. I never had any problem with them.

However Dead Space has shown the way forward, it was my favourite game of last year, and if Capcom could capture the atmosphere EA did then they're onto a winner

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

the point of the old resi's wasn't the bad controls or cameras, they didn't add to the horror, i mean its fairly easy to "ninja" around pretty much every zombie in 1 and 2 (bar off the top of my head 3 occations), and the camera angles are easy to get used to and i never really found them a hinderance.

no, in my opinion old resi horror was built outta fetching gooseberry fool, with piss all ammo, preying that the next door you went through didn't have dogs/hunters or some other nasty critter waiting to maul you with a constant caution setting on your health meter.

lack of ammo + great atmosphere.

something resi 5 lacked in equal messures, even on the hardest setting resi 5 , without unlimited ammo still gives you far to much to make any task difficult and throws health at you around every corner.

edit - i'd even say resi 4 suffered from being a bit too easy, i never found myself stuggling for ammo or health throughout any of the playthroughs, on any of the difficulty setting in resi 4 either.

compared to the original as chris where you don't even get a strawberry floating gun!

Chris + Knife = Win.

REmake added to that with those strawberry floating crimson heads being able to smash through the doors :|

indeed.

and added an extra edge for resi vets, because fair play to any one who can ninja around the strawberry floaters.

playing as chris, in remake, 6 slots and now added gasoline to burn everything :fp: TBH it was a chore.

Jill supremacy 8-)

BTW, resi DS, i'm up to the second Yawn fight with chris, only using the knife, not a single shot fired yet 8-)

i don't think i can kill yawn with a knife though :x

It does only take about five seconds to get a gun, though.

Agreed that 4 and 5 were too easy in terms of health and ammo though, the Playstation era REs were paced so well. Remember going through a door with barely any ammo and your health bar on "Danger" thinking ohshitohshitohshitohshiii-... and then....

Particularly relieving since you could only save on typewriters with consumable ink ribbons. I was like strawberry float YEAH at every new save room.
