Because by the time that the world’s Resident Evil 6 reviews went live at 5pm last night, the hive mind that is the UK games journalism scene had already decided that the game was a dud.

OXM: 8/10

Hive mind.

Add to that

Edge 6/10
CVG 8/10
GameCentral 5/10

What an arse he is. Awful article.

As someone who steers clear of survival horror and, admittedly, has no particular brand loyalty to Resident Evil, I’ve actually enjoyed the (comparatively little) time I’ve spent with the game.

This is where the reviewer (having played the game for 25 hours) comes onto the message board and as polity as possible tells this individual he's talking out of his arse.

Ah what the hell. I just can't wait until the PC version arrives. I am my own worst enemy. :|

Knew you'd crack.

I've got little to no will power, Denny. It mugs me every time.

Anyway, the way I figure it, I have RE5, RE ORC and now RE6 on my 360. The DLC for RE5 (all of which I have) wasn't released for the PC, so I'm not taking the chance Capcom pull that cheap stunt again - so best to have the 360 version of RE6 for my 360, innit? You know, just to be on the safe side. Or something.

I will justify this careless indulgence somehow, goddamit! :shifty:

Wasn't the DLC for RE5 also released for the PS3?

I'm not sure, but I've corrected my error. I meant to say it wasn't released for the PC. Which it wasn't. Gods knows why. Capcom released all the DLC for RE ORC to the PC, for godsake, as well as consoles.

Yay! I managed to resist, I did pop across to the shop, had the game in my hand, and walked out without it! Phew!

Picked up the steelbook edition from Game, and got a 'free' t-shirt as well.

What setting did you use, Anung?

For anyone who doesn't pop into the PSN thread, Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition is free for PS+ subscribers this month. Rather play that again than this tbh.

He has a point though.

It's like when a new Halo or CoD comes out. It's like the lowest possible review the game can get is an 8.

CoD especially, as it seems even if the reviewer finds it boring as hell they'll find some stupid excuse like how the MP is still great (which they've probably spent five minutes in and are probably too crap to judge correctly anyway) or how even though the SP is dull and by the numbers it'll have been done with polish or something equally well done.

Also see the general consensus on Darksiders 2 and ME3 and the brainless, afraid to go against the grain round up of reviews that each accumulated.

Resi 6 still looks bloody terrible.

The US press in particular is terrible for this.

I may have been mistaken. But there is an option to 'Allow' infinite ammo when you're starting a game. Maybe you still need to unlock it.

C-Virus is the shitty plot device they've used for the enemies to carry guns :fp:

Despite having this since Saturday I have barely even scratched the surface of the game so far. :fp: That said I am rather impressed with the sheer length of each chapter, most seeming to take about 90 mins-two hours to complete. Although I am enjoying myself the game is so far from perfect, if anything Capcom were simply too ambitous, and wanted to cram too much content in. It would have been nice had they spent more time polishing things.

The difficulty level is all over the place too, even on normal difficulty I seem to be getting knocked about like a rag doll. A few skill upgrades and a hasty bump down to amateur and I seem to be having a lot more fun. (So Cal if you are reading, dont play on normal. ;)

The start of Leon's 4th chapter is also rather.

Just started Leon's campaign.

The good news is that they seem to have removed the annoying trait of just tripping over corpses you approach.

The bad news is that said corpses are now impassable obstacles despite being laid on the floor :fp:

Also, what's the 'Voice Over Disc' for in the Xbox version?

Perhaps you can exploit it.

Let me see is that zombie dead? Truly dead? Let me check... *trips over*

Definitely not dead.

*Walk through it*

It is definitely dead.
