I loved these games series, easily one of my top rated series. I've only played the core games (and Gaiden once) and none of the spin-offs. Thoughts

PS1
Resident Evil - I loved this game despite (because?) of the cheesy dialogue, a great intro to the series
Resident Evil 2 - Improved on the first one in every way, perhaps my favourite in the whole franchise
Resident Evil 3 - Ugh, didn't really get on with this and, to me, it didn't feel like a real sequel, more of an add-on to Resi 2. One of my least favourite games

Dreamcast
Code Veronica - I loved this at the time, it felt like this should have been Res 3. A great Resi game and one of the top Dreamcast games

Gamecube
Resident Evil 0 - I know it gets a lot of flack but I thought it was OK, not the best but not the worst
REmake - It was great to go back to this game with improved visuals and scripting. It doesn't quite hold the same memories of the original but that's no fault of the game, more to do with how fondly I remember playing Resi 1
Resident Evil 4 - I loved the story and the gameplay and it felt like a nice refresh to the series

Xbox 360
Resident Evil 5 - As a horror game it falls a bit flat. I did enjoy the two-player co-op though and that made it more fun for me
Resident Evil 6 - Same as above really. Not really a horror game but still enjoyed the co-op mode

PS4
Resident Evil 7 - This is where I have to jump ship from the series. I like that it goes back to its horror roots, I like the story. I hate the first-person perspective, it really takes me out of the game and spoils the immersion. It was slightly more bearable in VR, in a gimicky way but not enough for me to play it through.

With the series seemingly carrying on with the first-person perspective I can't see me getting back into the series any time soon

I haven't played RE2 or 3 remake but that's more to do with me not really gaming much at the moment. I'd like to try 2 but not fussed about 3

Oh I forgot about Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles on Wii. Decent condensed replay of Resi 0/1 and 2/Code Veronica.

I can barely remember any of Umbrella Chronicles.

What would everyone's dream announcement beyond more footage of 8 be tonight? I don't think we'll get much at all but just for fun.

Honestly, I’m not sure there’s much else I need from the series beyond a steady stream of new content every couple of years at this point. Maybe RE4Make or Code Veremake just to cap off the “retro” Resi games being remade, but beyond that I’m just happy for a fairly close release date for Village.

Wonder if a remake of 1 would ever be on the cards? Or Zero perhaps!

Think they'll hold off but another remake announcement, or 8 before end of April would be absolutely mint.

I might have read somewhere that they were struggling to get 8 running well on last-gen platforms, did I imagine that? Maybe they abandon then to get the game out in time for Halloween or something.

It would be very cool to have a Resi 1 in the style of RE2Make and RE3Make, but would it be the first game to ever have a remake of a remake come out?

(Err, discounting Zelda...)

I love the swapping mechanic in Resi 0. It's something I always wish they'd made more use of.

It wasn't very well received, for some reason, but I thought it was a very good idea if a little rough around the edges. Possibly could have been combined with boxes to make a kind of hybrid system!

I would like the original versions of Resi 2 and 3 brought to Switch, the GC versions as they have the cheat codes (at least 2 did)

I would also like a full on RE2make of the first game.

Is this showcase tonight expected to have more than just RE8 and the new multiplayer Resi shown?

Man I'd love a re-release of the Chronicles games from the Wii, maybe as VR lightgun style games using motion controllers

They toyed with this a bit in re5, too - you couldn’t swap, but you could give Sheva orders. I thought that was the best thing about re5.

I really hope that re8 expands the gameplay beyond 7’s loop... maybe a more open world, with more enemy variety.

Is 8 launching on last gen too? How disappointing. No wonder it didn’t wow.

Fully expecting 20 minutes on RE8, then 20 mins on a mobile game focused around resource management with microtransactions from the Merchant.
