Mrs will be very happy if coming out on PS4 as well.

Hopefully there'll be another "Jack bursting through the wall" moment or two in this one as well.

Anyone got a link to any shorter vids just showing off 8?

The showcase was only about 20 minutes. Starts around here https://youtu.be/5EGFlLXaXes?t=1723

Really enjoyed the VIII demo. Loved the Gothic vampire vibe. Doesn't feel like it's going to do anything different with the VII gameplay but that's fine with me.

Are Capcom strrict about this:
Resident Evil Ambassadors are special envoys that use their own platforms--whether it be a blog, YouTube, or Twitch channel, to help share and promote the latest exciting developments in the RE universe.

As you seem to need to be an ambassador to apply.

You’re meant to have a better chance at getting accepted for the beta if you’ve got a higher status in the Ambassador programme. But I only applied for the Ambassador thing just before requesting the beta access last week, so I don’t think they’re being that strict. However, the sign-up page incorrectly went to the Japanese site, and then the login wouldn’t work, so I had to jump through a few hoops to get it to register me. It could be that most people gave up, so they’re now lacking participants and let me in.

Played through the demo. Bit more substantial than I thought, but yea it is quite short.

Will be intriguing to see if it's hiding any secrets, have already read that it plays differently on second play throughs.

Still a bit concerned at how similar it will be to 7. It looks decent but nothing special, hopefully an old build.

There was a lot to like about VII, but the things that I didn't like about it was that it felt a little bit on rails at times (arguably Resident Evil always has) and the switch to first person, though immersive, felt like it disconnected from the main character somewhat. Interesting that they have stuck with Ethan for this one, I imagine because of this disconnect and continuing with the same character may reduce that issue somewhat. My other issue with this game is the naming convention change. It worries me that this game will see the end of the numbering of Resident Evil games. I consider myself a big fan of the series, but if you were to try to include all of the games outside of the 'main' numbered games, you'd never play anything else. A permanent switch away from numbering would make it hard for me to decide which games to play in future. The online game doesn't really appeal to me. I'll give it a play as it's included, but it's not really what Resident Evil is about. Give us a good Mercenaries mode and be done with it!

It's a numbered game, they're just playing clever with the title.

Yeah, but I fear that it wont be obvious to a lot of people and as a result they'll switch to named games in future. Veronica is the only non-numbered game that I've owned, though I consider that as part of the main series proper.

Didn't they do a similar silly title thing with VII initially and it was called Kitchen?

Then when properly announced a year or so after the reveal they called it Resident Evil: Biohazard?

I think Kitchen was just the name of the VR demo, similar to how this one is named Maiden.

Ah, I thought it was shown as kitchen first and then was a surprise that it was actually Resident Evil 7 at the next E3. Misremembering it, then.

Never a slow day in the RE Universe.

Could be good news because RE2 was way better than 3, but then if they acknowledged this and were responding accordingly maybe not.

Sounds like a good move. A 1:1 remake of RE4 would've been utterly pointless.

This was my issue with it, and any first person game. I feel disconnected from the main character. I'd go a step further and say that the disconnect actually makes it less immersive for me. I always find it weird that the characters hands are always at eye level, I get why they do it, but its a nitpicky bugbear that I can't move past. Add into that that first person perspective gives me motion sickness. It's a frustrating situation for me because it means I miss out on some great games.

Excited for the eventual release of the 4 remake but also gutted they skipped a remake for Code Veronica. That was my first resi game back in the Dreamcast days, I have it on Xbox back compat but it's not aged well so a shiny remake would go down a treat.

I’d probably prefer a 1:1 remake in all honesty. Although, The A Team did make an absolute worldy in RE2. They pity the fool that be a lazy sucka!

Inspired to replay 7 but I’m reminded why I had significant reservations about it at the time. The combat is terrible. The moulded are boring and draining to fight, you move so sluggishly that looping around them is a complete pain. Up to the first Jack boss fight to with the chainsaw and it’s just terrible. Even on Normal he just sponges damage while you try to clumsily out manoeuvre him with the crap movement in a tiny area.
