It seems that it’s getting shorter after the castle. Already in the third stage of the game.

I’m on this bit and I can’t for the life of me work out what I need to do...

I’m in the room with the Mia doll, have unscrewed everything got the key, the winding gear and the ring, got out and got the tweezers. Now I’m stuck between the room that now has a projector in and the Mia doll room with seemingly nothing to do. There’s the door with the symbols but it wants me to put something in an indentation and I don’t have anything. Feels like I’m supposed to do something in the projector room but there’s nothing to interact with.

Puzzle spoiler:
Check the Mia Doll eye and mouth.

Well that was very strawberry floating unpleasant. Who said this was less scary :shifty:

A cool change of pace but yeh definitely a bit shorter than the castle.

I love the shambly enemies in this, they're great. Definitely feel RE2 zombie vibes

Finished the third stage.

Now off to take down the Meth Kingpin, Heisenberg.

The third area isn’t that too bad. Again it’s very short. You can tell that Capcom put in a lot into the castle.

This is a fantastic game. Much more so than RE7. The controls feel much more suited to the first person view. Great amount of exploring and puzzles.

Can see myself replaying this over and over again until I get the platinum.

Just past Beneviento's House and moving on to the third area. Think I'll take a bit of time to collect the treasures from the village though, I feel like this could work out well for me in terms of buying stuff off the Duke.

Playing with a controller is definitely the better option. The mouse controls are just unusable at the moment.

The movement are a lot bloody better than RE7.

Massive spoilers. DO NOT READ IT UNTIL YOU FINISH THE CASTLE.

I pretty much called it with the vampires. They aren’t vampires at all but a product of a biohazard, in form of parasites (in the game case’s flies.)

And Ethan Winters himself is such a resilient human being. He’ve had his fingers chomped off, hung by hooks though his hands and force himself to slice through the hooks by pulling away from them, had his right hand sliced off (and magically attached and fully functioned by applying some of that magic first aid liquid. What a guy!

And I saw the Umbrella symbol.

So far so good.

Did you play 7? Ethan is infected with the mold virus, which is why he can take so much damage and reattach limbs. I think there was a file in 7 that explained how the mold is encouraged to heal and grow by whatever chemical is in the first aid medicine.

Heading off to third area now having seemingly rinsed the village. There’s one red room in luizas place I can’t get into as it burned :(

Did anyone go back to the 2nd area

Yep!

Think I've got every collectible and treasure so far.

I'm still enjoying it but think it's missing something to make it truly special. Combat feels like it's always holding back a bit. Have never really had the overwhelming feeling you often get with RE4. Puzzling and exploration is good but just a bit held back by the environments not being anything to write home about.

I'd still say it's better than RE7 though.

I've just left the second area but I couldn't open the grave that was marked on the map. Have I missed an item while exploring or will I find it elsewhere and have to go back?

I feel like it's the latter but I'd like to find all the main treasures on a first run and I don't want the nagging feeling of having missed something obvious.

I really, really like it but it's also making me want to play Resi 4 again and I don't know if that's a negative or a positive.

Maybe a spoiler for something not in the game, but only if you're very sensitive to spoilers...

Yep

I have the same red room and I'm a wee bit annoyed. Dunno how far in you are but there's another one of the strawberry floaters in Otto's Mill, which as far as I can see is completely optional.. Missed a couple of things in Castle Dimitrescu as well but that'll be for the second playthrough. Had to sack it for a bit because the wife wants to watch Star Trek but I might be able to rattle out the rest of the game before bed.

Current impressions are - I strawberry floating love it.

3rd Lord down, and everything in village cleared.

Feels like I'm approaching end, everything's upgraded, 120k in the bank, no routes to unlock bar the one forward. All food (bar 1 I can't complete as I missed some fish, I looked up)...

How many fish do you need? There is at least one in the next mill area - I think it's optional and you'll have to kill an awful lot of bad fellas to get there, but there's a load of additional meat and fish and poultry.

I think we're roughly at the same area, too. I'm about six hours down.

2 fish.
The list I checked to see if I was at end said only 1 where you mention
