Yeah after a whole succession of injuries during the castle section which were all certainly fatal culminating in falling down a tower after the Lady D fight, I began to think Capcom were less having a laugh and more hinting he was still infected with the mould virus thing from RE7.

I'll say no more on it than this because I don't want to spoil anything for you, but I found the plot to be in the upper tier of batshit, even for a series that has thrived on complete batshit nuttiness for a quarter of a century. This is not a complaint.

Yeah, loved it. The story was a little too much for me, chiefly because they threw too much of it at you at once, in my opinion, leaving me fairly confused. It’s not the exactly the pinnacle of game narrative but they’ve built this huge sprawling lore, you’d think they’d take a bit more care with it.
But yeah, gunplay was lovely and tight, looked special, essentially Resi 4.5 in a lot of ways. My highlight is a bit of an off-kilter choice, it was the fairly brief Lord 3 section. The boss was class.

A few of us(well, me and Zilnad I think) are pretty sure they're setting up for an FPS console remake of Resi 4. They've announced a VR version but some of the enemies in this were just so consistent with the Ganados and some of the boss types that it feels like a given that they'll be reskinned at this point.

Was wearing my Resi t-shirt yesterday and my father-in-law, rather uncomfortably, started asking me if it was the pornographic game and why I would be playing something like that. He has describing it as a woman with huge breasts that keeps being advertised to him on his phone.

I assumed it was some cheap, hentai type ad that he was describing so I ended up desperately defending myself and sticking up for Resident Evil as a horror game that would never include anything like that.

The penny just dropped that he was talking about Lady Dimitrescu :lol:

Really struggling with Castle 2 in Mercenaries. I’ve got an A rank but just can’t get the S rank.

The second stage is just so difficult to keep the combo going and by the time I get to the last stage, I seem to always run out of ammo, so can’t kill all the enemies.

Oh the execution is fantastic, it's really well judged.

I wish I could play that bit again because either I was looking the wrong way or I was just so high on adrenaline that I completely missed the scare.

Village after Beneviento- Smugly start shooting the werewolf from the top of a roof with the sniper rifle. Werewolf jumps on roof. :dread:

Such strange pacing in this game. You go from a big castle section (which still felt like it ended too soon) and has a tonne of files giving background to the setting and characters, to an walkthrough which lasts about 20 minutes which has nice atmosphere but no character development for the actual antagonist, to an area with two mine rooms and a lake of floating platforms.

Did the money run out during development? It feels like a lot has been cut.

I can't imagine that's the case. RE popularity is at an all time high and this game was highly anticipated and looked good from the start. There's no reason Capcom would cut things short, it's not like they're hard up at the moment. I guess COVID may have caused them to wind up sooner but I think it's more likely they expanded the castle section because of the positive feedback they had on characters in trailers

Uninteresting fact - they started making it about 6 months before Resi 7 came out.
