I know Resident Evil games always start well and end badly but this game is ludicrous.

The end is absolutely atrocious, at times as bad as 6 but the start is as good as anything they’ve ever done.

Not really. The gameplay and level design are excellent throughout but, by the end, the story absolutely matches 6 in terms of drivelling ridiculousness.

You could see them frantically running out of ideas by the end. It didn’t need to link back to the story at all. The first two areas are god tier Resi and then it became a shooting gallery at the end.

The story at the end wasn’t even bonkers in a good way.

I really enjoyed the game overall and the start made me think it was going to be a 9/10 but the last third just really brought it down.

I am enjoying it so far.

Did you play 7? There was a point with Jack where you could repair a severed foot using the same method. And the how and why was explained in that game.

Calling nonsense on this. We’ve got a series here in which every single game is pushed forward by plot contrivances and idiocy, 8 is wholly consistent on that front. The story is perfectly fine.

Okay, that is a fair point. Even though I think of the older games (1 & 2 for example) as more "grounded", they are still extremely silly and embrace their B-movie tropes. Nostalgia definitely makes me forget just how ridiculous they were at times.

I think the reason that 8 jarred me the way it did was because 7 had this thin veil of being somewhat removed from past entries and its more basic plot felt like a soft reboot that was going to tell a new story. Whereas 8 went full on Resi and ended up giving me some kind of mental whiplash.

It ain’t RE if the plot doesn’t turn batshit insane at all.

Annoying this, really good game so far.

Loved the doll makers house, dislike freaky dolls so this set me on edge more than anything.

Accidentally sold all my meat before realising you can make meals. Annoying they let you :x

Still really taking my time with this. Just want to check (and I expect it’s been asked many times): I’m OK to sell any treasure, right? It’s just currency. No need to hang on to it for anything later in the game?

I think so, I have. Some are combinable which I missed on one item so watch out. It will tell you though.

Do not sale meat like I did.

One of my main complaints about the game is that you can't combine the wrong things together. I wanted to put a doll head on a goat body and see if the Duke would buy it

My God Village of the Shadows is a drag. Moreau was tedious as fuuuuuck.

I'm having some really weird controller issues with this game. Under normal settings as soon as I stop moving Ethan starts drifting like he's on a hill of ice, virtually makes the game unplayable. Nothing in menus or on PS5 menu but in game it's awful. Then when I switch off Adaptive triggers and rumble it's all fine. Anyone experienced this?

Really? You doing it OG style? By the time I got to Moreau on VoS I just blasted him to strawberry float with my giant magnum. :slol:

Yeah that fight took less than 2 minutes with an unlimited Magnum.

Just wait until you get to Heisenberg. :dread:
