It’s Jake. Not that I blame you. His whole story isn’t really that memorable.

Jake was the shittest part of Resi 6. Everything else was good.

Resident Evil 6 was an abomination. It was just so bland and generic and completely removed from anything good about the series.

I liked the first part of 7 but it did run out of steam towards the end.

Resident Evil 6 was a good bit of ott action fun, it did have plenty of great moments, but the Jake parts were absolute gooseberry fool

As for RE8 a lot of my mates are really excited to be chased around a mansion by a vampire dominatrix.

Just played End of Zoe. It was too weird. I know the franchise has always been a bit goofy but that was something else. Fun to play though.

Yeah, it just felt strange to me. Maybe goofy was the wrong word to describe it but playing a character that could punch Molded to death and rip them apart with his bare hands felt at odds with the main game. Especially considering how much Ethan struggled to survive despite having an arsenal of weaponry and enhanced abilities.

It just felt very different in tone to the main story and that was a little jarring for me. However I still think it played really well and I did enjoy it. If they include some melee combat in VIII (similar to Not A Hero and RE4) then I'll be very happy.

It’s not the same guy. In End of Zoe you play the matriarch’s (Jack) brother. You get the odd spear to throw but you’re primarily coming out swingin.

Oh I thought it was the one with Chris. He can punch a large enemy and send it flying across the room.

Yes! Not a Hero, also excellent...well, good for being literally free, anyway.

I started Not a Hero but the rooms where you're time limited because there's spores in the air seems like they could get annoying so I binned it off.

You very quickly find an upgraded filter for your mask which allows you to stay in the gas indefinitely.

I'm more excited about the new game having a mercenaries mode than the game itself

New 'Castle' demo now available to play for the next 8 hours.

Just managed to finish it in 19mins.

Still looking great, but I'm thinking I might wait and pick it up when it's a bit cheaper. Just started playing 7, so I have my RE fill for now.

Finished the demo in 8 minutes, it’s good, it looks great and very creepy. Won’t buy it at launch though, quite content waiting for a deep discount on a version that contains any DLC they release

I've got the PlayStation 5 version pre ordered at the game collection. £45.... Nearly half the price of Returnal, ratchet and clank etc.

You guys are strawberry floating freaks, man. I timed out on the demo in the dungeon. Spent my first life trapped in a hallway blasting away at vampire lady thinking I could kill her and getting frustrated. Found the exit on my second go.

strawberry float it looks great though, even on a base PS4 (which sounded like a hairdryer the entire time).

This format of demo is strawberry floating nonsense though, and actively works against the game I think. The Resi games are about exploration and puzzle solving as much as scares, and here I felt incredibly pressured to rush through areas ASAP (which is no doubt why I missed the exit during the combat bit). Rubbish format that I hope no-one else imitates.

Yeah it’s annoying they make you rush through the demo really, the game looks gorgeous in spots so I would have liked to spend more time just exploring and taking in the atmosphere!

The vampire lady was a tad annoying as she doesn’t seem to react to your shots so I wasn’t sure if it was working until she disbanded into flies or whatever they are

She actually changed vocal barks the more I shot her, which meant I thought I had to kill her. Bit annoying but it's Resi so I should've known better really.
