How do you get the magnum before meeting The Duke? I'm struggling like hell already with Village of Shadows. Even with the inf ammo shotgun, this siege is destroying me. I can't wait to find The Duke and get tooled up.

In new game plus you start with all your weapons. I was able to mop up the pistol and mine kill challenges by just restarting the siege section and wasting loads of Lycans.

For village of shadows, I found it relatively doable with the Wolfsbane Magnum, but if you’re struggling try climbing the ladder in the house on the hill and crouching down where the arrows can’t hit you. The lycans can only come from one direction(I think) and you can smack them about with your guns.

I had no idea there was a new game plus. How do you do that? I've just been selecting new game every time. So I'll retrieve all my unlocks when I reach The Duke but I start the game with nothing.

I managed to get past the siege eventually but even with infinite ammo using the basic shotgun it was incredibly difficult.

Load your completed game file, and you’ll get an option to start a new game with any difficulty.

To be fair, the game didn’t make it clear.

I knew about it because previous RE games did the same way.

I've only just realised you're supposed to see Lady Dimetriscu putting the key on the hook in her room. I've been too busy looking at her arse to notice

Took me ages to figure that out too, I was wandering round the room a good 10 minutes or so.

I thought it would be something to do with the footstool since you can push it around.

Bunked off a bit today and already on my way to the factory. Will definitely have Village of Shadows done by tomorrow morning and then it'll just be a case of mopping up a few more trophies.

Corazon, do you have a list of specific situations where guns are allowed for the knife only run? I assume you can use guns to break objects and windows? What about blowing up the wall when fighting one of Dimitrescu's daughters?

So my understanding is that the gun can be used to do anything but shoot enemies unless you're prompted to in a cut scene. Here's where I used other weapons in my run:

- Pipe bomb is required to blow up the wall and kill Daniella Dimitrescu(I think it's Daniella)
- Shooting the sticks holding up debris in the Moreau chase sequence
- Shooting the red glowing dots that stop the turbines(four on the roof turbine, then the one that sucks you into it)

And I think that was it. You can check if your gun usage has affected the trophy at any time by going into the challenge menu in the pause screen.

Didn't realise the challenge menu kept track of it. Thanks, I'll see if I can blitz through it tomorrow with the knife.

I think as long a bullet doesn’t hit an enemy unless you are forced to do, you’re safe. Make sure to save regularly and check the stats in the Challenges menu.

You don't need a gun for that lock, can reach it with the knife. Again though, it should only trigger a use of the gun if you shoot an enemy with it. And the other two things you mentioned are forced on you by the game, so I didn't include them in my list - all of the points I made are just optional points of shooting.

Might actually have to do two more runs to get the crafting and weapon upgrade trophies. Should be able to just blitz through it by by now though.

Corazon and Wedgie have both really inspired me to get the platinum on this before I go back to Returnal.

I haven’t played since yesterday. Just missing one goat and the S ranks now, but it shouldn’t be too hard to grab them over the next week or two.

I'm in a bit of a rut with this. I'm stuck in the castle on Hardcore I've forgotten how to kill the last daughter and have died several times now just trying to clear things up and get out.

Mercenaries I'm not clicking with either I'm miles of getting good scores and I don't even really understand how you're supposed to play it as it just feels stressful to me.

Just finished this and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ll probably do a new game plus run at some point and try to get all the guns, upgrades, treasures and such but not right away.

Completed it earlier. strawberry floating loved it. Favourite parts were definitely the castle and the doll house (shame that boss barely had any presence in the game). Some nice twists and turns with the story too I think the only major negative I have is the combat, just like 7, is still far too sluggish and the lycan enemies jumping from side to side all the time got a bit old.

2 Remake > 4 > 8 > Remake > 6 > 7 > 5 > Veronica

Also, what the actual strawberry float at you lot and your 30min knife-only playthroughs

It’s just a matter of learning when the enemies spawn, and nail down the perfect route and build up your combos to boost scores and times together to make better bonuses also kill every one possible to get a full clear bonus.

It’s tough. I just managed to obtained S ranks on the first two, and the factory is kicking my arse. I prefer RE4’s mercs mode though.
