Got this for my birthday the other day, and I managed to play through it a few days ago. It's so good. I went in completely blind after the first trailer and the "lol she too tall" memes, and I thought the whole game was in the castle. First runthrough took 11 hours, so it'll be interesting to see how much you can cut out for a three hour run  the second section :dread:

It's a bit weird towards the end...

When you get to play as Chris and it switches from fully first person to a third person view for the cutscenes. I wish they'd gone for a Peep Show style where you just got a first person view of whoever was speaking. I was genuinely expecting a "Chris is a werewolf" twist after the boxart and all their agent names, too

I think I expected a lot more to tie it back into the original Umbrella viruses, too. But maybe that's just because I'd heard a lot of people saying that the final room was the fanservice room.

I love how the first aid potion repairs Ethan's outfit, too  That's the most bizarre thing in the whole game.

Just got to Sturm on Village of Shadows :dread: I'd been doing okay up until this point! Knew that this whole area was going to be a nightmare, though. Not looking forward to the next boss, either...

Sturm was easily the worst thing about the Village of Shadows for me. Bargain basement Magneto and the Chris run were pants compared to him.

Someone was suing Capcom over Sturm too, dunno what came of it though.

Yeah turns out they ripped all the cyborg zombie designs from a low budget Dutch horror movie.

Am I meant to time the block or can I just hold the button? I seem to take damage regardless of what I do and I'm too slow to move out of the way :x

EDIT: I can survive for SO LONG but he just won't die :x Absolute knobhead

There is one attack of his that can’t be blocked but you can sometimes avoid it if you go to your left but it doesn’t always work.

You should use the rocket to get away from him every other time. Use the pieces of metal he throws out to hide behind and delay him until your rocket has reloaded. Also, right at the start, wait in the lift until your rocket has reloaded again.

You have to be super accurate with your shots but it is doable with enough practice. I did it in about 20 or so goes the other day.

I think it's five or six cycles of ripping his metal arms off, you just need to be patient and learn his moves and how to avoid them. Helps if you go in with a few health items.

QUICK EDIT: Actually, I have a memory that you can't use health items, ignore that.

Oh, and always try and have a cannon shot in reserve for when he charges you. You can do big damage with the machine guns on his weak spots if you just never let go of the fire button and aim well.

It just crashed my xbox  It's clearly as fed up as I am of those same few lines of dialogue.

MORE! I NEED MORE!

GOT HIM. Finally  Thank god for that. Thanks for the advice and moral support, guys!

Is that Urias Strajer? He's a big boy and he takes four laser shots I think.

The flash bangs are your friend against Urias.

Capcom still haven't patched the PC version to be better than the pirated version.

Huh didn’t realise that it was delayed as I didn’t bother downloading it when I got RE8. Yes, it’s still there in my library with the download prompt.

It’s no great loss. When I played the beta it was pretty much garbage.

Heard the PC version had been mostly fixed so I jumped in for £23.99 on CD Keys. Not using ray tracing so I can't speak on that front but while there's occasionally a small stutter seemingly when the game is loading a new area it runs well at 144fps. No drops at at all on the women who turn into flies which was apparently a complete slideshow before the patch.

I've just completed Castle Dimitrescu and I'm enjoying the more RE4 feel and tone to the game. I did laugh at Ethan perfectly reattaching a severed hand using magic healing liquid.

The idiocy of that actually becomes a minor plot point later in the game.
