It's always great to see some older gaming systems, Dowb'! I haven't played on a 2600 for a long time now; regrettably, I chucked it out when moving home many years ago. I still have fond memories of titles like Combat, Adventure and River Raid :-) .

Dowbocop wrote:...Controllers... The Kempston. This was actually in the Recycling Bag of Mega Drive Joy my brother in law gave me back when this thread started. I wondered why a Mega Drive controller would only have two buttons - it turns out it's actually an Atari era stick! In my research getting the 2600 back up and running I found out that, as the inputs are the same, Mega Drive controllers can be used with the Atari 2600 (B is fire)....

That black-and-yellow controller is a Zip Stick; a popular choice for - generally - 16 bit computer gamers. Yeah, many early joysticks manufacturers copied the connector point that Atari devised and, IIRC, Atari later successfully sought payment from many manufacturers who had used this approach. Atari systems, Commodore systems and (early) Sega systems all shared the same pad connector type. I often used my Mega Drive pads on my Amiga.

Dowbocop wrote:Some games running on my Atari. Arranged in a quiz format so if you fancy you can try and guess what the game is...

Blimey, that was tough, dude - my memories of those games have substantially faded  . I only got four; maybe five but I said Pele instead of Championship Soccer and I can't recall if they were totally different games or not!

I always thought Kempstons were a type of joystick, but it seems I'm wrong. It says Zipstick on it but I thought it might be a third party offering. At any rate it's an absolute beauty to use

Give yourself a point for that guess as well - Pele's on the box but not the cartridge.

Kempston was a peripheral manufacturer, Dowb', with their most famous product probably being being a joystick interface device for the ZX Spectrum. It was hugely popular and the vast majority of Speccy games supported it.

The Zip Stick is indeed terrific; I have one knocking about my loft somewhere!

Just been up in the loft so I decided to take some photos of my stuff.

As we were talking about GameCube games in the retro thread, here are my GameCube games:

I forgot to take a picture of the Zelda promo disc and wind waker in this shot :fp:

My Zelda collection so far. Not pictured are the gold wiimote, cd and box for skyward sword, and the box/cable for four swords (they were deeper in the game boxes and I couldn't be arsed digging to them.

Something I totally forgot I had - the eye of judgement on ps3. It's really good, but so tough I didn't get anywhere.

I'm gonna move all my retro stuff out of the UK over Christmas, it's gonna be so good to have it all under one roof again!

Also, anyone here got any experience with an Everdrive?

EDIT; Ad7 :datass:

You've showcased some great games there, Ad! It's cool seeing all of your Zelda stuff as a collection... especially as you've got Breath on the U and Switch :datass: .

I have 3 of them. NES, SNES and Megadrive. They're brilliant. Haven't found a game that they won't run. Well except the FX Chip SNES games. I think one of the newer versions does but that's stupid money.

I have a Megadrive everdrive it runs every megadrive game apart from the FX racing one , it also runs all the Master System games and all the homebrew I have thrown at it.

The SNES one I have doesnt have FX/special chip support but it plays everything I need it to play.

I think they are really good bits of kit.

So finally after finding my gameboy player this has been keeping me busy today! The best part about it is my flash cart works on it! It's so nice to play gba games on the sofa on a big screen (using real hardware). Image

Ad, what happened to your Zelda Collectors Edition? You stuff is usually in such good condition.

Also, do you have any interest in selling FSA?

I bought it off someone from here, I forget who. I snapped it up without really thinking of the condition and was pretty gutted when it arrived as it did. The disc has scratches too.

Four swords was also from someone on here - again the outer cardboard box isn't in great condition, but at least the game box and disc are in really good condition, as is the gba cable.

I've only played it once ( :fp: ) but I also don't think I'd sell it as I like having it along with my other Zelda stuff. I'm gutted I'm missing my links awakening dx cartridge (I have the box) as I think my banana split of a sister sold it. At least i was able to buy it on 3ds virtual console.

I sold a bunch of my retro stuff before moving out to HK, and tho I'm pretty sure I kept hold of most of the most valuable stuff, I have a horrible sinking feeling that I may have let a few treasures slip out. I've got stuff in boxes in the UK that I've not opened in three years, so I'm gonna ship those over at Christmas and see from where I need to start rebuilding the collection.

Think I might have sold my Zelda Collectors Edition.

Nice collection there, Ad.

Was away this weekend just gone so had nothing to add to the thread myself.

Since clearing out the study and turning it into my eldest's new bedroom I stumbled across a few more of those big boxed PC games.

Image

And my endeavour to pick up 360 & PS3 titles before prices [may or may not] spike continues on.

Ah! Those big-boxed computer games always create quite an impression, Gemini! I still have my Amiga ones tucked away in the loft. And, yeah, now is a great time to pick up Xbox 360 and PS3 games whilst the mass market looks to offload them.

I'm sure i have more big box pc games, probably in the loft.

Battlefield 3 is in the post on PS3. Not sure if I'll get 4 for the console, maybe on PC instead.

Love Big box pc games! I think I still got a couple somewhere. Pretty sure I got GuildWars and all expensions plus Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction expansion for pc somewhere...
