Spent a bit of today getting my PS2 to read a 40gig hard drive so I can burn a handful of games onto it and play them off the Hard drive. So far I have burned We love Katarmi, Jurassic Park Operation Genesis and Gadget Racers to it. (that accounts for about 4gig of the hard drive) I have had a hard drive , the network adapter and a memory card with the required stuff on for ages but just never gotten round to it, today I needed something to take my mind of things.

Ages ago I spent like £10 or £12 on an Italian copy of Steambot Chronicles for PS2 but was worried in case it wasn't in English, tried it today and yes it is, I might burn this and Wild Arms 3 to the machine and then leave it there, if it has to many games on it then it will just become one of those waste lands where you look at titles instead of actually have a bash at them.

I've not played it in a while and I doubt my current PC will like it without a lot of faffing about. That said I do have an older lap top that I play M&M VII on with no probs, so might install it there to see if it holds up.

Love Big box pc games! I think I still got a couple somewhere. Pretty sure I got GuildWars and all expensions plus Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction expansion for pc somewhere...

I did have a hunt around in the loft today for other 'big box' PC games and yep, I came across a few I'd completely forgotten about...but you'll have to wait until next Saturday for pics.

So this is technically cheating, as I didn't actually buy any of this stuff, but I was in my local Book Off (Japanese second hand comics/books/games/DVDs, figures etc) and they had loads of retro games there. I still want to buy a Japanese GameCube or N64 but they've never had the hardware in



They had Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time and all the Mario Party games. I am tempted to go back and get Pokémon stadium G/S and Mario Story, even without a Japanese console. As both were rare in the UK.

I did buy some things before at this Book Off. If I remember, I might take photos of them next weekend...

Japanese game boxes were always so much nicer than their western counterparts . Used to have Rival Schools on PS1 import and a few KoF titles fot Dreamcast. All were excellent.

Yah, Japanese game packaging often seems to be terrific, Parksey. The N64 games should contain full-colour manuals and, in most cases, full-colour control sheets, too .

I love the art for Japanese Megadrive games, I just think 9 out of 10 times they have the best art. I wrote a whole series of blog posts comparing stuff and most of the time the import box art is just such a joy to look at.

I just grabbed 4 psp games at £1 each from a local charity shop while taking a stroll to get milk, I got medal of honour heroes, medal of honour heroes 2, Socom Tactical strike and Ace Combat X skies of deception, there was another 2 game cases there but some absolute dick had stolen the games they wernt anything earth shattering but its just so annoying that people will steal stuff that is being sold for next to sod all.

Japanese box art is generally really nice for a lot of games. Though I don't think we're too hard done in the UK/Europe when it comes to our box art.

America though? Some of the US equivalents are utterly hideous when compared to their UK/EU/JP counterparts. Ico in particular is disgustingly poor.

Those prices are really cheap although the exchange rate is awful now so maybe not so much.. Funny how Pokemon costs the same as a banana cost me (about £1.20 lol).

No they are all really cheap, which is why I was tempted despite not having a Japanese console to play them on. The most expensive is Paper Mario at about £6. Japanese people usually keep their stuff in good nick, so the more recent games are basically good as new second hand. The cardboard boxes arent the best thing to preserve though and there is some inevitable wear.

I should have sought out a Japanese N64 like I planned four years ago when I came here. Seems a bit late now.

They had a decent software range. Loads of other N64, GC and SNES stuff. The only hardware they actually had out of the three of them was the SNES.

I was tempted to join you to the Secret Santa this year and bestow some Japanese retro curios on a forumite, but it seems the deadline has passed.

Posting to Japan is also insanely expensive but you could always try Pming Cora.

Nah, I'm going to my parents in the UK for Christmas do postage would have been to there. Possibly not everyone is appreciative of Japanese tat anyway.

Picked this lot up over the last week. While PS3 games are arguably not retro, the system is no longer in production and so kind of counts. Plus I'm not too keen to keep feeding the pockets of scalpers selling games from older systems at ridiculously high prices. This is cheap and still lots of fun slowly building up a commendable collection of older titles.

Some very good PS3 games there chap. I think its a great time to get PS3 games, it is a great machine and had some awesome stuff on it, nice to see Wet there.

My weekend retro wise has consisted of taking parts from two broken original PlayStation's to make one of them work, I consider this pretty cool because well the more functioning hardware out there the better. (I have working ones in the house but just wanted to do something) No idea what to do with the remaining broken one, either I can make some kind of art project out of it, I can throw it in the bin or I can spend more money than it would cost to get a whole new second hand PlayStation on replacing parts most of which I would have to order from abroad (the main thing it needs I don't think I can jury rig or find in an electric store is a new lens). I then burned an ISO of Monster Rancher 2 so my daughter could play it

Cheers. I've 39 PS3 physical games at the moment, 40 once Bioshock Infinite arrives in the post. That and Wet I have played to completion on the 360, but no longer owning them I decided to give them both a whirl on the PS3.

I'm currently sitting on 54 physical Xbox 360 titles.

I have around 30 digital titles across both systems.

Call of Duty.

(I also have CoD WWII & Infinite Warfare on PS4 and used to own BLOPS III on X1 until I stopped shelling out for XBLG. With no campaign, BLOPS 4 sadly won't be making it into my collection).

The bonus with the PS3 CoD titles is that there is still a thriving online community and as it's still free to play online with the PS3 I regular jump in for a few rounds.




And a few more older PC titles I found kicking about.

Just a note it's illegal to dispose of household electronics in domestic waste, you're meant to take it to a dump where it gets recycled and if it works people can also buy it.

That's a good shout. I wonder how long online play will be available for on the PS3 and 360 systems?
