Lovely stuff! Gosh takes me back NFS Underground and Underground 2! The general mission would be to buy the Mitsubishi Eclipse and pretend to be apart of Fast and Furious :datass: Another racing game for PS2 I loved was Juiced... I know what my next game purchases are going to be! *Trots off to eBay*

I always remember enjoying the NFS Underground titles back in the day so am looking forward to see if they still hold up.

Check out Juiced as well if you enjoy NFS. I remember the feeling of awe when I first played NFS 2 with its open world, do anything, race any time style. As much as I enjoy the Forza Horizon games I do find them to be a little vague, jack of all trades but master of none type. Would love it if they did a purely street racing focused version and delve into the scene.

I remember Juiced, but don't recall playing it. Juiced 2, however, I did play for a time and while flawed it was reasonably good arcade racer.

So here's what I'm doing this weekend! My brother was getting rid of his Xbox. He's had it since release and apart from. Some dust there's not a scratch on it. Originally going to take it to cash gens I was able to intercept him and take it off his hands.

Back then we both had Gamecubes and when given the choice of a second console we decided to go for something different each. I went for PS2 at the time, he the Xbox.

The og Xbox has been a system I've admired from afar but never owned so I was happy the opportunity came up. Then I found out the games and accessories are dirt cheap! Just like that I have another console to collect for!

Sadly the controller is a third party but I have to say overall it feels quite good and not cheap and nasty! The stack of games I picked up from CEX at 50p each!

The first three Splintercell games are fantastic. Hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised by not only how good they are, but that they're, certainly what I consider, 'proper' stealth games. Up there with the original Thief titles.

*edit* Might I also suggest Doom 3 for your Xbox. While there are now certainly better versions out there on console, Doom on the original Xbox is quite the technical achievement and worth owing.

Yeah, it's a bit good. I haven't fired up this copy, but I played it to completion on its release. The first Transformers game that really got it right.

While maybe not yet considered retro, the 2012 version of Most Wanted by Criterion is brilliant. Can be picked up on PS3, 360, WiiU & Vita. Definitely worth a check if you haven't played it before.

Awesome I'll check it out thanks! Any other recommended games for the Xbox? I'm open to all suggestions!

Havent come a cross that Transformers title before! What type of game is it? I loved War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron. Is it anything like them? I'm a massive fan, I got an ever growing collection of boxed mint condition Transformers toys and I got the Autobots symbol tattooed on my arm 8-) plus the '87 movie is one of my favourite films of all time!

If I remember correctly, it isn't G1, but it's a genuinely good game. I really liked War/Fall of Cybertron myself. I think you'll like the PS2 game.

Ubisoft gave it away on PC a while back. I can't honestly say I liked it all that much. Looked great, sounded great, but I kept crashing every five seconds. Walked away, went back to it a little later but nope, just didn't get on with it. The environment was just too cluttered. Crashing on every other corner just infuriated me.

For this weekend I wanted to share a title from my favourite ever system, the Gamecube. The Gamecube is host to so many of my favourite games, I absolutely adore the design of the system and controller and it reminds me of a really good period of my life. It's the only retro system I could honestly say that I still play on a regular basis.

The game in question is Super Mario Sunshine, a game I was really hyped for at the time and the first ever mainline Mario platformer that I got at launch. I had a lot of fun playing it but always found it pretty hard going, I wouldn't say my strengths exactly lie in playing platformers anyway but Mario Sunshine definitely presented a hell of a challenge, particularly on some of the levels without FLUDD. I still thoroughly enjoyed it though.

Unfortunately, it's a game which I never completed. I could never get past the final section leading up to the last boss, whereby you have to move the boat across water to the end using FLUDD to direct you. I would always crash, causing the boat to sink. I got to this stage during my first time playing the game so I'd estimate at some point in early 2003 but I simply could not do that part at all. I've occasionally revisited it over the years but never got any further. It's always been a source of frustration because I was so damn close to the end and it felt like a lot of wasted time.

For some reason this week I got the urge to go back and play it again, after a few attempts I finally made it past the lava/boat bit. Moving the boat in the right direction was a little frustrating but I actually didn't find it all that hard this time around. I'd always read that the final boss was easy so I was expecting to complete the game with ease. That wasn't quite the case, between huge frame rate drops, some issues with the controls and glitches (falling through the bloody floor) it actually proved to be pretty difficult. However, after about 30 minutes of trying I finally did it!

Just over 16 years since I first started playing Super Mario Sunshine I finally completed the damn thing and it can no longer sit on my shelf and taunt me! Very satisfying!

To celebrate I thought it would be a great opportunity to share the game in here!

Image

The boxart itself, probably my least favourite aspect of the game. Always felt it looked a bit bland! The Mario Sunshine logo is great but the artwork behind is very meh in my eyes. One of the worst Mario game covers.

Image

The manual inside for me has much better art, that would have made a great front cover. Unfortunately the manual is slightly turned up at the corner but overall it's complete and in a really nice condition. Love the purple box it came in too. Really liked how Gamecube games had a variety of different coloured cases, seems to be something Nintendo do a lot less of these days.

Image

My original memory card 251, complete with all my saves for 1st Party Nintendo games and a Mario Sunshine sticker from NGC magazine. Brings back fond memories!

Image

The end screen I've been waiting 16 years to see for myself!

Im not a huge follower of Nintendo, but Sunshine is my favourite Mario title. It's damn hard in places though.

Haven't contributed in a while, but here's something I've hooked up while I'm back at my dad's.

I know that the membrane on the keyboard is damaged so not all the keys work, but it's been in the loft for years so I'm just glad I can get it onto the main screen! Sadly I couldn't find our box of tapes, I'll have a snoop around the loft at Christmas and see if I can find them.

The funny thing with Sunshine is that I got it on release and didn't really like it.... 6 months latter I was off work sick and couldnt get out of bed I was basically so dizzy I couldn't walk anywhere but If I just laid in bed I was OK.... over the course of a few days I did nothing but play Sunshine and I found that I absolutely loved it.

Great share, Jamo, and it was lovely to hear your gameplay tale behind it, too! Yeah, although I am fond of the uniformity of format boxes, the different coloured casings can add a lot of fun to a collection.

Congratulations on returning to - and completing - your sunshine journey :toot: .

I love seeing some old-school computing kit and the Speccy remains a legend, Dowb'! It's nice that it's in working condition and it'd be so cool if you could find your old game cassettes!

Agreed. If memory serves correctly, Sunshine had a purple box, Double Dash came in red, Wind Waker had a gold one, the Zelda Collection/Promo Disc also had a purple box... were there any more?

Did Wario Ware have a yellow case or was it just the sleeve?

Viewtiful Joe 2 had two different coloured sleeves too. This has made me miss my GameCube now. Wish I had more time or was just generally immortal so I'd be able to replay all the titles I want to.
