Has anyone tried one of those retro fighters controllers? Are they any good? They seem decent enough and the price is very tempting, just wondering if anyone here has any experience with them.

The Brawler 64 has great reviews. I intend on picking one up myself.

I've been playing through Ico over the past few weeks. I've never played it before and I love the atmosphere. The grand locations coupled with the eerie solitude really remind me of the first Tomb Raider, and the gameplay is basically Sands of Time with less time travel, acrobatics and fighting. Both Ico and TR have a feel which is hard to replicate in the all guns blazing style which has always tended to dominate gaming. I'd love to pick up more of them but, as I said, I'm not sure if many exist. Even TR 2 turned into a really generic kill-the-bad-man fest.

I went up to the loft to fix a leaky (strawberry) float valve, i came down with a load of retro handhelds  :toot:

First up, the big one (literally). My original gameboy  It was in a right state with tape marks on it, so I cleaned the casing up and put some batteries in hoping for the best. It's probably not been switched on in at least 20 years.

God the nostalgia hit playing that

Amazing how things progress.

Next up is my donkey Kong 2 game and watch (which I mentions here a while back).

It's in such great condition. I don't have any batteries to test it out at the moment.

You are lucky there is no screen rot on the gameboy, old ones usually have at least one or two dead lines.

My original Gameboy isn't in quite as good condition as that, the battery cover is missing as is the screen front (the bit in front of the actual LCD panel) but it does still function.

I think I lost the battery cover when I got one of those shitty 3rd party rechargeable battery packs that stuck out of the back and completely ruined the ergonomics.

Oh my that gameboy is in lovely condition! I mostly see battered, yellowed examples with the lens and battery covers missing and still the sellers charge as if its immaculate! A rarity indeed! If you ever concider selling please please keep me in mind!

That's a great clean-up, Ad - the machine looks to be in lovely shape! My original GB is long gone; the screen deteriorated (multiple vertical lines stopped displaying pixels) and I chucked it out. I can play my GB games on a Game Boy Color, though.

It is indeed in marvellous condition and it'd be good to see a couple of batteries installed so that you can give it a play.

It's not totally cleaned up, but it's in fantastic condition. Not a mark on it anywhere.

I think it might be my mum's gameboy, but I can't be sure. I had 2 myself, the first of which I stupidly traded in against some PlayStation games, quickly realised my mistake and I went out and bought another one with the same games again. My mum loved Tetris so bought one for herself, and I suspect this is that one as I dont remember what I did with mine, and I probably would have had it along with the rest of my stuff rather than leave it at dad's place.

I got an atomic purple gameboy colour in the states one holiday along with Tetris dx (I still have it) , warioland 2 (still have) and links awakening dx (which is missing). I may break the colour and gba out tomorrow.

btw when the lines on the screen go like that it can be repaired so isn't totally trash, also there are hundreds of replacement screen lenses on eBay including ones with cool colours.

I've been playing through Ocarina of Time on the N64 , still amazing even though its showing its age these days. I have a list of around 12 or so N64 games that I intend to play through one by one. Still going for a complete PAL N64 collection (unboxed) but I'm starting to struggle now, almost everything that does the rounds on eBay I now have, CEX is pretty much my only source now. I do keep an eye on charity shops but most have wised up they can charge loads more putting stuff like this on eBay so that supply has dried up.

Strangely enough I put a few hours into OOT yesterday for the first time in almost four years. Start up to Forest Temple.

Still a masterpiece.

How many games you got?

I don't know if you're specifically after the OG design, but have you heard of the Brawler64 controller?

Looks about six billion times comfier than the original Nintendo design.

Think I'm up at about 130 now, after picking up an unspellable golf simulator and NBA Live '99 at a retro shop in Grainger Market down in Newcastle last week. Sounds like Nintendonerd might be a little further along than I am. The only things you rarely see on eBay nowadays are the likes of Flying Dragon, or the three Australian PAL exclusives(Snowboard Kids 2, Starcraft and HSV Adventure Racing, which is Beetle Adventure Racing only without the Volkswagens and with the Australian car brand Holden. Fun fact - all the spaceships in Thor: Ragnarok are named after Holden cars).

My next purchase will be a full set of PAL stickers from Etsy, so I can see exactly what I've got and need at a glance. Sadly, saving for a wedding and the missus' visa/citizenship application are sucking all my funds away from what's really important. :shifty:

I'm also upto the Forest Temple, I'm using a guide for this play through to pick up everything I've always missed so it's taking longer this time (even did the mask side quest!)
