I've been wanting Pedz to give one a try for a while now. This is my way of forcing the issue. :lol:

For those who might be wondering what these are, Randomizers are essentially ROM hacks that randomize various elements of the games, most commonly the item locations. So you might get late game items right at the start, or in weird places.
Super Metroid/ALTTP is a special case. Due to some amazing co-incidences in how Super Metroid and Zelda 3 were were made, it's possible to switch between the two games in one ROM. They have hacked it so that going through certain doors in either game will take you to a door in the other one. So the Fortune Teller Hut by Lake Hylia now links to Crateria in Super Metroid. The randomizer means you can also find items in either game. In my most recent one I found the Grapple Beam in the Sick Kids house in Kakariko Village. It's genius.

Basically they make an old game feel new again and force you to rethink how you play scenarios. I went ages in one run of ALTTP where I didn't have a sword and had to take out a few bosses with the Hammer.

Cool. It's pretty simple what I'm doing tbh. I let GRcade pick a game and I play it on a Monday for 1 hour, then write on GRview about it.

I was thinking of bringing it back, but sticking to one game until I finish it, but I'd get through 1-3 games a year with how rubbish I am at games :lol:

That was more fun than I expected it to be. I only planned on watching for an hour or so but without even thinking about it nearly 2.5 hours flew by. The game was cool and all but almost secondary to the banter.

Yeah, I used to shy away from watching streams but there is a good vibe on the ones broadcast by GR folk; easy-going, friendly and fun. The scene has built up quite a lot over the past year.

I think Pedz rather enjoyed that last night as he played it for 4 hours or so.

Quick question - what are the valid platforms? We've had PS1 and N64 noms so I presume they're fair game now - just wondering if retro PC/AMIGA stuff is an option as well?

Nes, Snes, Gameboy(GB)/Colour(GBC)/Advanced(GBA), Game Gear (GG), Master System(MS,) Mega Drive (MD,) PC and I'm now allowing PC Engine/Turobografx(PCe/TBG)

Though when it comes to PC, provided you can get me the stuff I need to play it, you can add them too.

How easy is an Amiga emulator to set up and get games for?
