As in never?

It's a cracking game, better than Awakening in my opinion. It gets incredibly tough towards the end of the game, especially the 7th dungeon; even getting to the dungeon is a trek in itself, but well worth it. The last boss is nowhere near the difficulty of Seasons' boss though.

Certainly one for a future playde.

As for a group run-in to the final battle, I'm happy to wait for anyone who wants to catch up and face the last dungeon together.

I have lost my SP, with Awakening trapped in it. I'm running out of possible places to find it. :(

If I find it, I'll race for the finish with as much gusto as I can muster.

I don't expect to be finished by the deadline, but I do intend to finish this eventually. :shifty:

On the subject of the next playde, I'm 100% behind Skies of Arcadia.

Phew, mammoth session to get up to date. Finished Eagle's Tower and Turtle Rock now. Had loads of problems in Eagle's Tower, mostly to do with the ball. Kept losing it, then when I had it, kept chucking it down holes :fp: Finally got enough seashells for the L2 sword too, and done the trade quest for the boomerang.

Also did the Colour Dungeon. Was I supposed to do this now or at the end? Was pretty easy, much easier than Eagle's or Turtle. Chose the blue suit

How much more is there to go? Is the Wind Fish Egg a full-length dungeon?

No, I think it's just a Lost Woods-esque maze through identical rooms, if I remember correctly.

I'm up to the Face Shrine at the moment. I won't finish by Sunday, but it should take too long. We'll extend the deadline into next week - if everyone wants to organise a time for the final stretch, I'll try and get there. After we're all done, we'll vote on the next title.

Now that you have the Magnifying Glass, if you go to the house just west of the village (with all the books in it) and read the book at the bottom right, you will get the path through the Wind Fish Egg.

Ok just finished Tail Cave there. I realise i'm miles behind but i'm gonna try catch up over the next couple of days. My god is that boss fight frustrating, it must have taken me at least 20 tries to beat it.

It's my first time playing this game, the side view bit of the dungeon with the goombas was certainly strange!

Traded the spade for the boomerang last night. I'm gonna miss my spade :(

Does anyone else play by rules like: you can't go on to the next screen unless you either
- have all your heart containers filled or
- have defeated all enemies, destroyed all plants and dug at every space you can reach?

No? Just me then...

I finished this last night. After busting open the Egg, I just couldn't wait any longer.

Such an amazing game. Now I've got to find my GBA version of ALttP.

I've just finished the Face Shrine. It shouldn't take too long to do the last two dungeons - if I remember correctly there's not much side questing between them.

If people want to, we'll leave Link's Awakening "open" for another week, but we can start nominating a game each for the next Playde shortlist?

Please do.

A Link to the Past.

That was the game I originally wanted to nominate. When people said Link's Awakening I thought that was it. I somehow always mix the two up...

Good man. Depending on how much sidequesting you've done up till now, there may be a fair bit: the Trading Quest, Seashells, Heart Pieces.

Besides all that, the last two dungeons are lengthy quests in themselves. Great fun though.

I'm gonna veer away from a Nintendo title this time, and nominate Knights of the Old Republic. However, I start Uni in a few weeks and might not have the time for such a lengthy game. We'll see how it goes.

Right, this is going to be left open til next Monday, but in the meantime, if anyone has finished LA, they can start thinking about a game to nominate for next time. Everyone gets to nominate one game and if they can stick it in bold in their post, I'll know that's the one to be counted.

I'm trying to think of a way that people who have played through LA with us can have extra sway - maybe nominate another game for a shortlist or having their vote worth two?

KOTOR would be a good choice, though is it retro? I saw it bandied about in the GGC Playde thread. Saying that, I do want to replay it - it's one of my favourite last-gen games and I only went through it the once.

Anyway, I'm up to Eagle's Tower. I'd completely forgotten where the Ocarina was and that I needed it to gain entry to the dungeon. Like my first playthrough, I kept thinking that the chickens in the house at the top of the mountains were the way to get across the gap to the Eagle Key.

Into the dungeon proper, I can remember this one being really devious. It'll probably take me an hour or so to go through, but I'll try and do it tonight so I can get Turtle Rock out of the way tomorrow. It's testament to the game that I'm still enjoying it even though I only completed it back in December.

It still reminds me of Christmas though.

Ah, my bad, I didn't realise we were keeping it retro.

Carry on.

I knew there wasn't much work to do between Eagle's Tower and Turtle Rock, but I didn't realise there was absolutely nothing that needed doing - you just had to get to the dungeon and play the Ocarina.

As for Eagle's Tower, it took me a while to remember to bomb a wall to get to the fourth pillar, and I dread to think of the time I spent aimlessly wandering around trying to find a specific room, but I got there in the end. I didn't lose a heart on the boss either, which I think was a contrast to my last playthrough.

And now Turtle's Rock, where you have to kill that annoying flying enemy everytime you move back into the first room...

If you have the Boomerang, he goes down in one hit. Throw it just as you enter the room and he'll never bother you. :D

Gah, I don't have the boomerang. I've forgotten who to give the scales to.

Also, I'm about halfway through Turtle's Rock, but I've not got the Fire Rod yet. I've hit a dead end though and need one key to be able to progress to the mini-boss, but I can't find a key anywhere. How do you get in through the roof to bomb those worm things?
