A good level weapon really does make all the difference - beat 2nd boss for the 2nd time and was never in any real danger. That goes for the whole biome. (Mullered the enemies once I got Hollowseeker to 10. Them included.) I've still yet to find the turret laser alt-fire, or whatever it is, on the Hollowseeker :x

Housemarque really missed a trick with the Giant Octopus Hammer enemy. When you're fighting it out in the open it uses ranged attacks. Fine. But then, when you're hid around solid obstacles, where said attacks are useless, they really should have had it sending its tentacles shooting around the structures, attacking unexpectedly from all directions.

I think most of the really good perks are locked behind high proficieny levels as I only started seeing them on later biomes. Hollowseeker was generally my weapon of choice but one time I picked up a rocket launcher that had an auto-fire perk which was really fun to use.

I plan to get right back on this now that I've finished with Resi. Has anyone here finished it yet? When I left it, I'd just beaten the first boss of Act 2.

I've completed it in the sense that I've beaten all the biomes and final boss, but there is some extra work to do after the credits to unlock the full ending which I haven't done yet as I also started playing Resident Evil.

The first RL I used was dump. (Unless it too has a auto-fire perk.) Whatever the RL/GL-alike weapon was for today's daily challenge was so much more fun to use.

Took the calculated risk of not fully completing third biome. I barely got boss down to 50% on final bar. Hollowseeker was at good level but, unlike the one I ditched it for, it had crap alt-fire. But it was also 2 levels superior so I swapped it out and now I'm regretting it :slol: AAARGH! I also had 2 health items on me as well. Still not good enough. Took too much damage on first phase.

Got myself a Hollowseeker this morning, equipped with Portal Beam and Portal Turret, and it was glorious. Also unlocked quite a few permanent upgrades so I'll be able to traverse a lot more areas now.

I don't know if it's because runs are taking longer now, seems to be at least two hours each game, but I'm definitely feeling that frustration over bad RNG and the subsequent annoyance of dying during a really good run.

I've come across enemies now that give you malfunctions when they hit you and it's incredibly difficult :dread:

Portal Beam and Portal Turret are so good, that was the build that I completed the final biome with.

Around that time there are also enemies that can hit you with attacks that destroy random artefacts, it's an absolute pain.

(The glowy things make the wave room, at least in the first biome, a lot more enjoyable and survivable without suffering major consequences.)

I got 3rd boss down to about, I dunno, 10%-ish. I'm not even upset that I didn't finish it, because, in the space of three encounters with it, I've gone from "How the strawberry float am I supposed to beat that?!!" to "I can smash its stupid face in. If A LOT of things fall my way." That's good progress. I think so anyway. (I think I may have increased my chances of beating it had I not gone RIGHT UP TO IT on final phase. It meant I was looking down at the target with no view of it attacking me until it was too late to dodge. Pretty dumb, that. But I figured it out quickly enough and was able to move back a bit without taking damage.)

There were moments during that session where I was passing up weaponry even though it was 3 levels above my carbine/Hollowseeker :dread: Thank gawd I eventually lucked out and got the portal beam Hollowseeker.

I didn't bother taking on 2nd boss. Cleared the biome but didn't want to risk losing my HP and figurine pick ups. Turned out to be a good call.

Nerves are jangled to strawberry float :slol: Won't be sleeping for a while now.
