Manual fire weapons are so much better when the trigger isn't mapped to R2!

Looks like this will eventually get an update to fix the save issue, so will get it then.

I haven't played this for a few days and now I can't clear biome 1 :lol: :fp:

Today's challenge weapon was pretty fun. (Projectile was sort of a mix between a gravity free grenade and red bouncy balls.)

I'm seeing player corpses in the challenge sim now. Nothing to fight or interact with still, but that's new.

Nice! Well done SoK :toot:

I saw and interacted with a few corpses during the patch that they had to revert due to a save issue, it seemed like a cool feature. I wonder why they're having so much trouble implementing this.

I completed this with the full ending last night. I wasn't sure how to interpret the story but after reading online I can see that it's not quite clear cut and there a few differing opinions so I'm glad I wasn't just being stupid :lol:

I'll probably continue playing for a bit, not sure if I'll get the platinum as I need to fully survey 5 of the 6 biomes (get all scout logs, glyphs etc.) but I'll see how I go. Probably my game of the year so far.

Been a few days again since I've played this. Subnautica has taken me away from it!

I feel like I'll play this a lot more once you can actually "save and quit" though.

The lack of a save feature hasn't really bothered me until last night, where just before heading to beat the final boss again for the final ending, the sound on the game completely cut out. The sound was still coming through the controller fine, and the PS5 menu screen was working but the sound that was supposed to come through the TV on the game was completely muted.

After googling it I found it was a common issue and none of the recommendations were working (go in and out of rest mode, connect a different controller). I was a bit annoyed I'd either have to restart or see the final ending without any sound :lol:

Luckily I managed to fix it by going into rest mode and then plugging in headphones before restarting, still an absolute pain though.

New patch has gone live and corpses now show up and lead to avenge missions.

I got one in first biome. It was the Big Red Alien Doggy + purple laser. (Purp laser was pain in the arse to avoid variety and caused me to die :lol: Avenge me!)

Avenged two scouts in biome 1 (fought wriggly red dog and then a possessed scout tentacle mob) and then *gasp* made it out biome 1 :toot: Avenged another scout in biome 2 (again, first one lead to a boss mob) but then died in enemy waves room. Getting back into the groove. I can feel it.

Are the avenge corpse things the bodies of other dead players?

You can also loot, though that costs ether. Successful avenging rewards ether. (And the player avenged gets stuff as well. So that's nice.)

I think there are two types of corpses: one is a hologram signal which leads to where the body is, the other is a body sans hologram but with suit lights showing.

FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUU!

I was having THE BEST biome 1 run. I took down multiple red dogs; a tentacle brute; and even avenged a scout. Best of all, I did it all with a bit confidence and flair. (Staggered 'em and then one shot alt-fired their arse into gooey oblivion. Up close and personal, like.) And I think that was my downfall because that attitude lead me to taking on Phrike without any health pots on me. This despite the fact I had tonnes of ooblets, a fabricator restock thingy and a health item waiting for me at said fab. But no. Through a mix of hubris and forgetfulness I ended up getting offed by Phrike :fp: I should have read the warning from today's challenge sim result: I failed to complete it for the first time.

Despite all that, it was a great run :slol:

I was also having a great run this morning and then decided to "avenge" one of those new corpses. Bad idea. I lost my astronaut AND reviving parasite in that same fight.

I had to rage quit and play something else :lol:

I went into the fight with a level 13 Hollowseeker + Voidbeam 2. What helped in this fight was the alt-fire reset x 2 and... :lol: I've forgotten what the other one was, but I had two of that one as well. It basically meant I completed the first phase in super quick time without losing too much health. Hanging back so I could see the adds' beam attacks coming was a huge help as well.

Gimme back all my stuff, you strawberry floats! And where's my new unlock?! < All the reasons why I don't like the new stage.

Sounds like you've made some good progress! The Echoing Ruins boss fight is one of my favourites because of the music, although nothing quite matches the spectacle of the Nemesis fight.

Act 2 is when some of the really powerful weapon perks start showing up so keep an eye out for new ones.

I went from moving backwards (couldn't get out of biome 1 for ages :lol:) to all of a sudden making up for all the lost time. Yeah, Echoing Ruins boss was something else. Love how they had it set up with the organ (gave it some much needed personality), and it had the most spectacular looking attacks yet.

I think I'd have beaten 5th biome if only a good level weapon with fast fire rate had dropped for me. Everything was a pistol this and shotgun that. And then, a little before the doomed mini boss encounter, a 5 levels higher carbine fell. With the high calibre perk :| :fp: So I stuck it out with the level 14 Hollowseeker. Sigh.

Ngh. 5th biome kicking my arse in a variety of ways. I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and go with which ever high level weapon the game presents me with. (Everything was showing up at my level or higher *except* Hollowseeker.) The carbine seems to have been wiped from the pool completely. Pylon Driver seems fun, if slow firing. I'm guessing there are faster versions further in to the game.
Today I was whupped by multiple regular big doggies and 1 mini boss combo.
