Haven't played this too much in the past week (also trying to get through Resident Evil Village) and haven't managed to get off the first Biome! I swear this game gets harder the moment you make progress - so, after killing the first boss, Biome 1 has been tougher every time I've played since.

Did manage to avenge my first corpse today, and got rewarded with five ether....so not too bad! :)

I haven't seen this confirmed anywhere, but apparently they made bits of the game harder in the last patch.

The same thing happened to me after taking a day or two away from the game :slol: I must have been stuck on biome 1 for a good few days.

I thought it got harder after I’d gone through the house for the first time - almost as if the game was saying ‘yeah, so in future run throughs you may get lucky & get the chance to buy an extra life….so it’s getting harder!’

Could be a figment of my imagination. I’ve concluded I’m a bit pants at this type of game (also looking at you, Demons Souls…)

I keep thinking I’ve seen everything the first biome has but even now I’m running into rooms or layouts that are completely different.

Most recently, I’ve just spawned back at the ship with enemies in the room.

Yup. I've had a good number of instances where I've either been surprised by a new room or a new layout.

Act 2 is strawberry floating HARSH. First room after abandoning Helios: room FILLED with hard hitting enemies. And I'm pretty much done with those ooblite/statue "trap" rooms (the one where the floor gives way below your feet) because they're that much more dangerous now. There's a version you can land in which will you see you take on the tentacled brute in a tiny room! It's more than winnable but I lost so much HP that it massively affected my run in a bad way.

I was also jumping around the crash site and saw that there was a door that’s unlocked on the ledge up above that’s beyond your reach, but I assume that’s Act 2

Don't ignore the "trap" rooms as the vast majority of then give you good stuff. If you do drop into one where it's just an enemy to spawn you can just teleport out without fighting them.

You don't ever reach that door in the game, some people are guessing it might be used in future DLC.

I put in a marathon session and look where I ended up...

For a good chunk of it I had next to zilch health and 2 malfunctions. Both of which were thanks to those big tentacled strawberry floaters who hit hard and give the gift of malfunctions. The two they gave me were damage on perfect reload and when using keys. (Yeah, could have been much, much worse, but when you're in the middle of one hectic fight after another and your muscle memory is trained to use overload...) I did have a figurine, but no regular useable health items. What I did have was an item which when activated turns damage output to health; a parasite which healed for 5% of adrenaline level during combat; and a lovely wee parasite which slowly heals when at low health. It's thanks to those, and a genius bit of pulling, that I was able to regain ALL my health and give myself half a chance.

Oh! When Ophion went into 2nd phase :shock: :o Just the look of it, that was the most impressive modelling in all the game. A shame the rest of the phase wasn't as impressive, but I was at panic stations so I may have that wrong. But it *did* look amazing.

As hard as the game is, Housemarque could have made it so much more of a ball ache. Like imagine if the end game fragments weren't a permanent upgrade :lol: I'd have quit soon after learning about them, if that had been the case.

Note to self: never avenge a fallen scout in the Derelict Citadel :fp: Other than that, I'm making good progress on end game.

Are you collecting the sun fragments now? Most of them seem to spawn fairly near the start of each biome, the 6th one is the one that people seem to struggle with the most.

I'm still having short spells on this now and again and just trying to collect more glyphs and scout logs in different biomes. Annoyingly I'm still missing a scout log in biome 1, on looking online it spawns in a room I've never come across in any of my runs and it seems a lot of people going for the platinum have yet to come across it.

I am on the sun fragments, aye. Not made it back to the citadel since I was last there (not counting the daily challenge :slol:) but they've been easy enough to get to up to that point.

Which log are you missing? I posses neither the dedication nor patience to plat this. (Though, if by some fluke, I'm only one or two trophies off from getting it if/when I complete it, then I may take a crack at it.)

The sun fragment in the citadel always spawns in the same place if you wanted to look online. I think it's probably near enough the begining that you could try and run to it using the shortcut in biome 1 rather than playing through the whole of the first two biomes.

Scout Log 9 is the one I'm missing in the first biome, it's about parasites. Aside from that one I think I'm missing around 6 or 7 from later biomes, plus a handful of glyphs in each of 4 biomes so still plenty of work left to get the platinum.

I'll probably shorten B1 down to getting a decent weapon, if I can, and then moving on to B3. The thing is, I enjoy beating up on the B1-3 scrubs too, much so I'm not 100% sure if I have it in me to skip that :lol: Maybe after a few messed up sessions I will change my mind.

I just looked up that room it spawns in. It's one of my semi-regular rooms. I've found a new room myself in last couple of runs: it's in B1 and it's mostly a big wide empty area but with a derelict structure in the middle. Usually spawns 2 tree mobs. Tonight it had them and a bonus brute.

I only just got that sun fragment. I didn't look online and so OF COURSE I headed in the opposite direction to where it was :fp: :lol: Thankfully I didn't regret it! If anything, it was my best citadel run; utterly mullered the giant bots. (Ditto the TIE fighters.) Three or four of them, in fact 8-) One of them was even an avenge scout mission! (Though I only went ahead with it because there was plenty of cover and opportunities to hookshot myself out of danger.)

And I also twatted *that* bastard in a biome 1 trap room and in an avenge mission.

Now on to the 4th key!
