strawberry floating drones in B3 are ridiculous. Even just one of them can be instantly lethal, and they chuck them at you 4 at a time.

You think you're doing well playing it safe by hiding around a corner or obstacle, but then they just crash beyond it and get you with the kamikaze attack splash damage :x

4th key get. Took down 3rd boss just *because.

*Because I had a level 15 Hollowseeker with portal beam.

Most player deaths caused by Phrike - yeah, cos most of us can’t get past the bugger and, when we do, we can’t get to boss 2….

Trap room where you take on the big brute strawberry floater.

See the pedestals? Well there's a gap between them and the wall which you can use it to shield yourself from its attacks. It's makes for a pretty strawberry floating hilarious scene to be honest. (But not worth experiencing unless you have a stack of back up integrity items!)

To be honest, those kamakazi tentacle drone things are the reason I haven't played for a couple of weeks. They aren't fun to fight, just annoying!

You do whatever you can to survive against them in the citadel. (They never caused me more problems than they did in the citadel. The worst was when the ambushed me on *the* bridge and I had nowhere to run or hide :x ) But after that, thankfully, they're a lot easier to deal with thanks to the make up of the levels and beefier weaponry being available to you.

Just had a gooseberry fool run. See that small room in the Tweet above? I landed in there. With a strawberry floating Severed. I'm such a div :fp: BUT! I unlocked auto fire on the shotgun :toot: And a new weapon :msgreen: The Coilspine Shredder.

SPOILERS Best boss gets a making of piece in PS Blog: https://blog.playstation.com/2021/05/28 ... ion-fight/ SPOILERS

Just hearing that music as I approached its source... it was something different. Obviously had no idea how different/special. And then seeing it... I wish I'd had the option to let it be; it's the only boss I haven't thought about fighting again. Just gonna let my alien boy play his alien organ in perpetuity.

strawberry floating sigh. Screwed up a potentially great second act run by dying when I had ALL THE GOOD STUFF: integrity replenishing items, a good Hollowseeker, decent upgrades and parasites. Ended up getting unexpectedly crushed by a suped up version of the brute mob. (Despite being in an open map with lots of hookshot locations to use as an easy escape.)

It was even worse earlier: I missed the final key by entering the point of no return. I then proceeded to lose all my consumables and figurine in the fight before the boss. Taking down the boss wasn't important for the run, but seeing all that stuff I'd saved up get used in the encounter directly before the boss... that was hard to stomach. (I had to deal with 3 of those homing starfish spewers and one of the malfunction causing brutes.)

woop! 6th fragment GET. More importantly, I learned something from trying a different weapon out against the boss: the manual RL projectile speed and, quite shockingly, the projectile damage, is just not good enough. This was a level 30 RL at that. woof.

I have to assume the game gets a lot easier in Act 2 because I simply refuse to accept I'm just a scrub.

Base weapon level in A2 is 15 and you'll be unlocking better perks and higher level versions of the old perks, so at the very least you'll be dishing out more damage in A2 and 3.

Did another run as I'm going to attempt to get the Platinum for this. (I "just" need to complete surveys for all but one biome.)

I'm now seeing new perks! (Maybe because they were all level 30?) The Rotgland Lobber has a freaking portal perk :slol: It works differently to the Hollowseeker portal and its attack kind of looks like enemies have elongated bogies attached to them. Which are coming out of a portal. And the Hollowseeker has a oscillating perk which changes the pattern of the projectiles which causes higher damage... *shrug* I'll take it.

I used a high level Lobber for a good chunk of the run and had a blast with it. It lets you play defensively but also does really good damage from one hit. (Hits just takes a bit of time to take effect.) Took down a number of mini bosses and the more gittish of the regular enemies with it. I think I've figured out how to adapt my play style to it, but I dunno if I'd use low level version. I ended the run with an auto rocket/grenade launcher. It was OP AF. So much so that I managed to beat the final boss when I had no right to. (Though I also had the auto-repair at low integrity buff  It saved me from 4 or 5 deaths in that final fight.)

Finally made it to Nemesis. He seems easy enough, got him down to half his last bar before the yellow lasers caught me. I was having an absolute god run though, over 200% integrity thanks to a reduced resin cost, resinous shield, that 5x adrenaline level damage augment, and others. Drones couldn’t even get a second to shoot at me. I had loads of healing going in to the second last room too, but fighting two big robots and tons of turrets at the same took it all away from me.

I really hope I can skip that room from now on.

I cannot skip that room. I just did a quick straight line run to the boss to see if I could, beat the room anyway, went in to fight him with no health, no augments, and just a carbine with high calibre. Didn’t spot til I checked the clip that I actually almost got him. Probably 20% left of bar 3. Yeah, he’s a cinch.

Nice one.

I found it easier to dodge the yellow lasers by keeping the enemies who shoot them off in sight. And I constantly used hookshot to hit and run the big bot, and everything else, in the final combat room.

2nd crash has put paid to my platinum ambitions; I don't wanna push my luck with it possibly borking the console/SSD.

Final thoughts: Housemarque's best game yet. Yes it is difficult, but there's definitely a hump to it. And while getting to the top most part isn't easy, and going down the other side isn't exactly freewheeling, not only is progress far from impossible but is is also honest to goodness enjoyable once you're in tune with how the game works.
I wish the story had been more conclusive and clear, but I'm happy to take my own interpretations of what happened and make them cannon.
I honestly went into this thinking it'd be merely OK but am happy to say it's actually a really great game, one which I see myself returnaling    once they update it with new content and, hopefully, make the game more stable.

Finally. Act 2.

Interesting direction for the story and interesting path for the 4th biome. Got portal beam on my hollowseekers now. It’s all coming up jiggles
