Took me a while to find my gun of choice but it ended up being the Hollowseeker especially when you get portals unlocked.

I settled on the Hollowseeker really quickly as well. However, once multiple / late game perks start showing up, a lot of weapons go from being insta NOPE to more than worth considering. They also help keep things fresh and present a new challenge as you have to adjust your style of play.

I think I'm getting better and I'm using my ether to unlock stuff at the start. Currently at 7 ether per unlock. I read online that 10 is what to aim for.

Love the assault rifle and pretty much everything about the game. Just wish I was better at it or that it came with a difficulty slider.

Could you please explain this? If I pump more ether into the pillar at the start, will it unlock better things?

When you buy something from the pillar at the start, you not only get it for that run but you unlock it permanently, meaning it might show up again in chests etc. in future runs. As you unlock more things they get more expensive, I can't remember if there's a set order or things unlock in a random order.

Seems to be random I think as I still don't have an item that heals me at a higher health level and I have nearly unlocked them all. Same with the cubes, I have two more to find.

Thank you. May try this even if it's fairly random. Phike is such a pain. Had a level 5 carbine and about 25% extra health but still couldn't do him. Would have got past if I had the astronaut but it didn't appear on that run for some reason.

Some assorted tips for the boss:

- Make sure you aren't using L2 to aim as it inhibits your movements, you should be fine to hit him just using free aim.
- Keep circling throughout the entire fight.
- Your dash is your most important defensive weapon and can dodge through attacks, often your instinct is to dash away from a projectile but doing this means it often hits you anyway, dashing through projectiles and attacks is much better.
- Try to get the timings of his physical strike memorised, it is fairly telegraphed so you should be able dodge it using the dash fairly easily if you keep an eye on him at all times. In the first two phases he does one slash, whereas in the third phase he will do two in a row.
- Assuming you have a decent alt-fire make sure you use it as soon as it refreshes everytime as it can do a decent chunk of damage.
- Carbine is definitely the weapon to go with for the fight.
- The shop will always have a healing consumable, often a large one, which are fairly reasonably priced. If you buy this plus the astronaut (which seems to appear fairly regularly in the shop) then you'll basically have three lives to kill him as the large healing item fills most of your health.
- Other artefacts to look out for in the shop are Leech Adrenaline and Emergency Repairs, the first restores health based on damage dealt if you have adrenaline levels built up, and the second slowly restores health when low to a max of 25%.
- Be careful with what parasites you pick up, some of the negative effects are just not worth it (e.g. I'd stay away from anything that effects your dash cooldown).
- Health pick ups change depending on whether you have full health or not. At full health they will always be resins which give you bars towards increasing your max health. When going through the biome, don't necessarily pick up every health pick up immediately. For example, if you've taken a bit of damage and there are three health picks up in an area, one large and two small, picking the large first will get you to full health and change the small pick-ups into resins, whereas picking the small ones first might mean you only get one or even no resins from the pick-ups.

If you're short by a little bit on a shop purchase you'd like to make: shoot at all statues / destructible in the biome. (Some will have currency, others will have enemies hiding in 'em.)

Thanks all. Finally, after 9 hours play, did Phike. All these tips really helped, although 9 hours for the first biome / boss doesn't bode well!

Don’t worry it took me longer than that to get pass the first area.

It seems that I’m stuck in a rud. I can’t get pass area 4 at all. Frustration is creeping in and felt like giving up and play something else.

What's hampering you? Regular enemies? Boss fight? The flying bot things aren't as bad as the ones in the Citadel, and the boss fight itself I thought was spectacular but definitely on the easy side.

I dunno how long it took, but I died *a lot* on the first boss. It's all part of the process. Grats on beating it.

Second area was easier for me Jordan however, area 3 was probably my hardest of the whole game.

Just be positive about it, you will have good runs and bad runs, you will learn and you will get better. Don’t be too disheartened by a bad run, there is a lot of luck involved with items, health drops and enemy spawns.

Want to go for Platinum but certain items are really too random to get. Going to take a lot of playthroughs

Getting strawberry floated off now. 8 more runs to completion and still need 5 glyths from 4 stages which don’t seem to be spawning. Thats all I need to platinum.

Another run through of both lots of stages and only one Glyth found.

Looking through everything I have 5 Glyphs to find and 1 recording across 4 areas. The second being the most with 3 of the glyphs that I just can't find! I have cleared out the whole area and walked back through to double check. It's one of the biggest faults of this game!
