The scripted humour is just so crass. I think it says a lot that the funny parts of Mrs Brown's boys are when someone forgets their lines or one of the actors can't stop laughing. Don't misunderstand me, I genuinely do think those parts are funny - but it's comedy that gets old fast.

Also I'm happy to see Peep Show highlighted as the opposite to this.

Confirmed pretty much all my beliefs about the type of people who like this show really.

I don't know, I would class Peep Show as pretty crass. It's just handled a strawberry float lot better in that show than Mrs Brown's Boys.

Peep Show

Oooh, burn.

Is this dialogue from the show?

I bet there is a crossover between people who like MBB and Top Gear.

Peep show has plenty of cringe humour, but it's definitely a situational comedy. Mrs Brows boys' script derives humour from people saying rude words. I guess that's what I mean

What's that one with Lee Mack in? That's gooseberry fool too, and I like Lee Mack.

I've never watched it but the clips I have seen make it look gooseberry fool. It has Tim Vine in which is enough to put me off watching.

I really liked Not Going Out when it first started, then the BBC cancelled it on a high, but people wanted it brought back so they did.

Reminds me of My Family, in that it kept going for too long.

I think it was also the first show I saw that featured Miranda (she played the cleaner).

Yeah could be that, where he lives with a family of nondescript and painfully unfunny children and spouse.

The whole set-up of No Going Out for the past 2 series I think has changed. Originally it was freeloading Lee Mack and this American woman living together as flat mates in what appeared to be a nice apartment in London.

I think the best BBC1 sitcom of the last 10 years was Worst Week of My Life with Ben Miller; I thought that was hilarious.
