Yeah I was surprised at how effective a workout it can be at first!

I've still been using mine regularly since picking it up in April, it's worked really well for me as I find it much easier to fit in a quick session on this that to gear myself up for going out and doing a run or a bike ride.

I've never felt more unfit in my life! I was massively skeptical, but this gives me a harder workout that Wii Fit ever did!

Yep that's what I figured too. I can just quickly do a workout on this basically with my pyjama shorts on. No getting my cycling gear ready, worrying about punctures or the weather. Just something to get me reasonably fit over the winter and lose a bit of weight with a better diet.

Main downside, my lounge now stinks really sweaty!

Yeah, this is a substitute for outside exercise for me. I tend to do a couple of runs a week but if it's cold, wet and dark I boot this up instead.

It's really well done too, really keeps you engaged and wanting to keep going.

Yeah it is a really well thought out product and as you say it does a lot of good things to keep you interested and returning for more.

Other than a period during university where I took advantage of really cheap deals for using the uni's own gym most of my fitness activities before I got hold of this were pretty much exclusively cardio type stuff - running and cycling for the most part. Getting this has actually been great as it has encouraged me to regularly do more varied exercise.

I was actually quite impressed that focussing on some of the moves in this that work the arms or chest has actually resulted in those all important "gains" that I'm always hearing about!

I forgot we have a proper topic for this.

Had the game a couple of weeks now, and heave settled in to a routine of:

Morning dog walk for 40 minutes, then when I get back I have 25 or so minutes on this before work. I do this Monday to Wednesday, go for a real run on Thursday, then I have a longer session Friday as my wife walks the dog that morning. Weekend off :datass:

My current set in adventure mode is planks, knee lift, sitting knee lift, bow pull, squats, overhead press.

Fuuuuuck me the planks and overhead presses are the worst. I think on my third set of planks in one area, I just face planted in to the floor at the end and the dog came over to see if I was ok

Some of the activities are definitely more taxing than others! "Leg raise" is one of the killers for me, I'm using it on the custom routines mode at the moment and have it set to something like 16 reps and I'm strawberry floating dying by the last few!

My routine is to do about 40 minutes (real time, in game time it's about 30) on a weeknight (usually Monday and Wednesday) and then another go on Saturday mornings. It's been working out really well for me since I got it last year, other than when just running which I find a bit boring this has been easily the most committed I've been to any kind of exercise routine

It's funny how people find some exercises harder than others. Leg stuff is really easy for me, like squats don't really do much but then I used to do a lot of intensive cycling so my legs are really strong. Overhead presses absolutely destroy me though, 25 of those and I'm ready to collapse with 5 left.

Yeah the actual leg stuff is fine for me - squats, knee lifts etc. But leg raises are more of a core exercise than a leg one and my core is about as strong as a wet paper bag!

I don't mind the overhead presses too much, but they you can definitely feel it toward the end. I made the mistake of setting up a custom workout with way too many arm exercises in a row at one point - overhead press, back press, front press, bow pulls - it was all in there! :fp:

Been sticking with this. Some weeks I do Monday Tuesday Wednesday, some just Monday and Wednesday (with a proper run Thursday for both).

The adventure mode annoyed me last time as it made me just do a load of arm stuff for 25 minutes, and I didn't feel like I got anything out of it really (mainly trying to flatten my stomach). I've swapped to a custom workout which has about 8 things in, and I repeat that 2 or 3 times depending on how knackered I'm feeling. On about 5 hours total time so far.

Yeah I switched to custom workouts after a week or so of it. I've got a whole set of different workouts that I mix and match between depending on what I want to focus on for any particular session. I usually do 3 rounds which gives about 25-40 minutes of activity each time

The rhythm action mode in this isn't always that precise) satisfying, and the songs seem to go on a little long. But it Is fun trying to beat Ultra-Hard and so on and it's a great workout in itself. Deffo gets the sweat on!

Also I basically just play the Splatoon music one.

Had this for a couple of weeks now and am enjoying it, have just been going through Adventure Mode, in the middle of World 5.

Does have some seemingly odd things though, like almost every new move I've unlocked seems much easier to do than the ones I had before except the new ones do way more damage or hit way more targets. Like Overhead Presses which are killer after a while do 35 damage I think, is now outclassed by simply twisting your arms for 90 damage? Maybe it's an individual thing and arm twists are considerably harder for some people or I should just be actively choosing the ones I find harder.

Also think it would have been good if you could have different difficulty levels for each body area, like have it slightly lower for my weedy arms but higher for the leg exercises which are comparatively easy.

Planks can piss off though.

I noticed that and moved away from the adventure mode becuase of it. I'd picked a high difficulty for abs and arms with a bit of leg work in to mix it up, then it started putting larger groups of enemies in with special conditions to beat them, which is fine, but suddenly my 30x knees to chest is doing 35 damage, yet just moving my arm around 10 times is doing 95 to all enemies at once.

I stopped getting much out of it, so switched to a custom set of things. I've now got:

3 min Jog > 20x wide squat > 20x plank > 20x shoulder press > 20x knee to chest > 15x lean forward and pull your arm back and high thing > 20x leg lift > 30x leg lift arm raise thing

Takes just over 10 minutes. I do that twice, usually swearing the second time around half way through the planks.

Fiiiiive more!

strawberry float OFF!

Pretty sure that difficulty applies to custom mode as well (although I think you need to go into adventure to adjust it :fp: ) - it changes how long/hard you have to hold things for

Custom mode was definitely the way to go for me, so much easier to fit in and actually feel like you are getting a good amount of exercise done for the time put in.

:fp: ffs, that makes sense in a Nintendo way

I've got a window of 30 minutes to fit a good amount of this in after ive taken the dog out and before work, and having the adventure mode banging on about smoothie and rubbish story guff was getting annoying. Much better to have 20 minutes of exercise that leaves you strawberry floated than 35 minutes where you don't break a sweat sometimes.

I swapped to this today, taking the wide squats out and putting regular ones back in. I do this twice.

Kept forgetting to take a shot of mine. I basically run through these three lists each session:

Takes about 25 minutes of the in game timer but in real terms it's about a 40 minute workout.

Well now you've made me look lazy

I've got a window of about 25 minutes to use in the mornings, so I may add a few variations in and have two lists to run through like you've done rather than do the same one twice. I have to be careful with upper body stuff as I had intercostal muscle strain which comes back very easily and is so painful (if youve not had it, it feels like you're having a heart attack that last hours). The bow pulls I had in this set it off badly a few weeks back so I took them out.

I wish you could add a bit of weight to the ringcon, as some of the lifting stuff is as good as pointless.

Well at the moment I'm only averaging 2 sessions of this during the week rather than 3 which is what I would prefer so it's not like I'm hammering that list every day!

I've been meaning to put together a short alternative which I can use on days where I have less time - I still want a good mix but something that I can get done in 20/25 minutes would be ideal

Sorry for bumping a super old thread but I stopped doing this in 2020 when it got hot and I literally haven't done anything since, so I decided today to finally get back into doing this (not that I did this for long) and this time I want to keep up with it. Especially going away twice this year when I'll be walking around a lot and WFH means I don't really go out to get any excercise either so this is super important. Did the boss of world 4 and strawberry float that felt like I was dying, I'm so out of shape lmao

Qikz wrote:Bumping this because I decided to finally use my ring fit again and the world 3 boss killed me. strawberry float I need to excercise more.

Me 2 and a half years ago, let's see if this time I keep up with it.

I've decided to try and use the first half hour - hour after work to excercise, let's see if I can stick to it.
