I don’t know anybody who does the kind of stuff I liked about EZA when I thought they were really at their best a couple of years ago.

I was more talking about people who put out more thoughtful stuff like No Clip or take deeper dives into stuff and really have interesting things to say.

Excellent inductees in the Hall of Greats. Did miss Kyle's presence though.

Really touching heartfelt video that’s clearly a response to the slump they’ve been in recently and a lot of the negative feedback they’ve had over the summer. Patrons down 10%, earnings down 25% on the year they really needed to do something.

With Kyle gone and generally being sick of Zoom videos I’ve been out of their stuff for the past 6 months but this will provide a good excuse to try and get back in to their stuff and maybe resign up to the Patreon if they announce some cool stuff.

I can’t emphasise how much they should be pushing to get back in the studio though, it would make such a difference.

EZA shine most when they're together. Covid hit them harder than expected and it really did show with the overall moral on the team being lower than usual. I'm sticking with these guys till the end no matter what happens. I've followed other outlets where over time they end up becoming something that's just doesn't vibe with me anymore but EZA are differnet. They feel like friends you meet up with every week and catch up on things you love. Thats what has made me stay with them since they started. Looking forward to how things shape up for the future.

I have not really been tuning in to their content since Kyle left. A couple of years ago I watched just about everything they did.
I still like the hall of greats (though the last one on zoom felt a bit week), and enjoy their betting specials and fantasy league stuff.

I think this is the best thing they’ve done in a while.

The Game of the Year deliberations is currently going on but I plan to catch up with it on my own time later. Was certainly an interesting year so I can't wait to hear where everyone's stances are. Didn't particularly agree with Sekiro winning last year but the Allies are pretty Soulsborne biased at times so it wasn't surprising lol. But tbh, I'm not really watching to see what wins, just love hearing these guys just talk about their experiences which games they enjoyed playing.

Was interesting when Ian and Bosman were talking for Easy Updat at the end of the year and Ian saying he doesn't like the GotY debates.

Totally get that coming from Ian, but that's also why I value his opinions more. His perspective is always unique compared to most of the other allies. He often gets hate for it which I never understood.

I don’t think Ian doesn’t do himself any favours when talking about this stuff at times. He seems to get really emotionally invested and hurt when people won’t come round to his position, yet will regularly mouth off that he only thinks there have ever been like half a dozen good games ever made.

Looking forward to watching the deliberations for this year.

Ian's not really the gaming guy and it's understandable why he only plays and enjoys few games. Also every Ally gets emotionally invested in what they play and like so it's not really an exclusive thing for Ian.

I feel like the rest of them do the back and forth more casually and accept other opinions better. Take the Animal Crossing chat in the multiplayer category as an example. Maybe I’m just reading into stuff though.

I do like him and he’s probably the most crucial member.

I'm about to dive in now so haven't heard that part yet. Crucial is a good way to put it. He keeps the other Allies on their toes with questions and perspectives you wouldn't usually see from them. I feel like they'd slack a bit more if Ian wasn't there to criticise games more harshly tbh. I guess we have Ben for that too, but Ian tends to be a bit more honest which I like.

My god the multiplayer one is so salty, and then the way it ends

I love it.

Going through this pretty slowly since I like to savour it >,> Already with Best Boss Fight, I'm little bummed that Ben or Ian didn't bring up any Nioh 2 bosses because I know they really enjoyed that game. I'm not holding my breath that the game will get mentions for any later categories either. Funny how they all talk about the Demon Souls bosses but then write most of them off later. The soulsborne bias of the group is something I've never been a huge fan of personally lol. But the end list is still pretty solid and Im glad Fatalis got it's due.

I agree with all this. I liked the way Ben stood his ground with his argument.

Finished. An entertaining watch if a little draining at points because some stuff gets laboured for way to long.

I actually really appreciated Ian keeping himself in check in this one and he comes across well for it. It's a shame in a way because his point about TLOU2 story being 'boring and one dimensional' is one I actually really agree with so would have loved to here him go off on it against Huber.

Ben actually winds me up the most and it did seem a bit like he ended up picking the winner of most things or dragging things out unnecessarily by having to get a point in every time something he liked was cut.

Surprised how easily they got to their GOTY pick but not surprised by the winner.

I much preferred GB’s GOTY streams this year. I’m really struggling with EZA since Kyle left. I think they (EZA) really need to be in a room together for their chemistry to work. It was diminished when they moved to the studio, and this feels like a step too far for me.

Keep getting distracted and holding this off lol. I can def feel the vibe being different than usual tho. The Allies not being together kinda loses the special touch.

I also keep meaning to watch GB's stuff every year but never get around to it. Their format is just way too long and feels more of a commitment. I haven't actually followed GB in years since I just felt out touch with most of their stuff. After Ryan passed the whole identity of GB kinda changed, which is understandable I guess.

Edit: okay the multiplayer segment was def something near the end but nothing new when it comes to heated EZA debates. Ben calling out Brandon caught me off guard tho lol.

Edit2: Pheeww, Finally got through it all. Really didn't want it to end because this is when I love the Allies most lol. Overall fairly tame compared to previous years. Honestly wish there was a little more heat in some cases. I thought the main GotY segment would last a lot longer but I guess the winning game really must be that special. Now to save up for a new PC and VR headset >,>

I don't usually care about the games that "win" these categories. Mostly in it for the discussion and games getting their due more than anything. Now watch their personal picks stream which I bet will be super cosy.
