I wonder if Minotaur was made from a original Xbox...

I'm not usually into this, but that was very entertaining.

I don't know anything about Robot Wars... but that was brilliant! If the new series is anything like that, I will be watching it  .

I mean, you can post all the Hypnodisc videos you want, but this here was more entertaining than UK Robot Wars ever was. That weapon sounding like an old warplane spinning up, the sparks, the tiny robot absolutely flinging the big one through the air, and then it explodes to end it. Amazing.

One of the first reports on this new series was saying how the new arena was built to be bullet-proof. I really hope that's a sign it's going to be a lot more destructive.

Agree - that video was pretty impressive compared to most of the rubbish we got in UK Robot Wars. If the new series has fights like this then I will be very interested to watch.

The original show was great, but it felt like after the first couple of series everyone just turned up with a different wedge shaped flipper and tried to use the same tactics constantly. Obviously it quickly became a proven approach that was no doubt easier to implement than other designs, but it didn't exactly improve things from a spectators point of view.

Mind you, half of the fun was listening to the commentary, the awkward interviews with the teams, and listening to Charles' terrible poems - whether the new series can deliver on the stuff outside of "the arena" will be a big factor.

Although if it starts and it's just Jonathan Pearce shouting about SRIMECs and continually repeating "Style, control, damage, and aggression" then I'll be annoyed :D

Yeah no Sgt. Bash is really disappointing.

Also, where's Refbot?

Refbot was the start of the decline. Don't get me started on Mister Psycho, too :dread:

I never got the Hypnodisc love. Yeah, it was a powerful machine, but they never really had that much appeal as a team. A bit like Razer, really. Stupidly powerful robot, but I never *wanted* them to win.

Nemesis all the way.

I really like Behemoth too, mainly because it was one of the few original robots that was at the tour I went to see a few months back.

I actually really liked Mr Psycho. Even bigger than Sir Killalot and that hammer was strawberry floating terrifying (though it rarely made good contact).

Growler can get strawberry floated though.

Because it was hilarious watching the beardy nerds have a year's work smashed to gooseberry fool in seconds by something designed by one of that team's kids in lego

Never paid attention to the teams themselves, just loved watching their work go up in smoke :datass:

My favourite spinner is still Typhoon 2. Not only ripping other robots to shreds but twice smashing through the actual arena wall.
