Just watching episode 2 now. Not sure how true the "home-made"/"amateur fighting machines" speech is anymore, considering Carbide at least are backed by sponsorship from actual engineering companies.

They're not going to let Ant forget walking out, are they? :dread:

(Also, what happened to Sheryl with Carbide? #awkward)

Gabriel doing surprisingly well against Carbide :slol: I've always wondered how well the floppy wheels would do at absorbing an impact, and obviously it does quite well!

EDIT: Second match and the flipper's wrecked again. No expense spared on this arena. Eruption :datass:

Disappointing final, there :( Over in an instant.

Bucky the Mascot :slol:

Kid's team out almost instantly in the first match! Hope Rapid doesn't win :dread:

Apex takes one hit and the weapon stops working :fp: Devastating.

strawberry floating hell, that Apex destruction! This is why spinners are a bad idea :dread: Third episode, third time the arena's been trashed.

EDIT: Anyone else think Vulture threw that match to let the kids go through to the melee? :shifty:

This thread seems popular this series...

Team Nuts are back! Actually making it through their first match :o

EDIT: Nuts basically one-shot killed Androne! :slol: That's why you don't have exposed mechanisms :dread:

EDIT 2: :o

Bit of an oversight putting extra armour on that stops your machine running upside down  :fp:

How long before someone sues Johnathan Pearce for sexually harassing Matilda? He’s always chatting like he wants to bang her.

I keep spotting Bucky the Mascot in the background of the backstage sections, too. Terrifying :slol:

Dave from Carbide never looks like he actually has fun. There’s no joy behind those eyes.

Please let Nuts beat Carbide. That’d be the greatest upset ever. THEY JUST GOT BEHEMOTH IN THE PIT! Poor Ant :slol:

EDIT: Carbide v Rapid should be a good match if the spinner stays working. They can trash Rapid, and then they can chuff off.

What a final :datass: Feels like the reboot has finally got it’s footing after the first two slightly dull attempts.

Cracking episode last night, easily the best of the show since it returned. The change in format this series has made a huge difference

I've enjoyed all three series since Robot Wars has made a comeback. The fog of war isnt great though most of the time the robots just sit still as the drivers can't see anything (along with the viewers). Glad behemoth didn't win the team captain Ant always struck me as an arsehole.

Think some of the robots need to retire now. Thor, TerrorHurtz, Behemoth have had their day.

Behemoth is great! It never seems like that well designed a robot but it always manages to do reasonably well. Ant got some pretty bad (unwarranted!) press last season and they haven’t really let him forget it this time around. It’s like they’re editing him to be a villain (I’m wondering if it’s the same for the guy from Rapid, or if he’s genuinely that much of a smug tosspot - I posted on twitter about how satisfying it was to watch Carbide smash the hell of it and he liked my tweet :slol: ). I’ve seen Ant around at a few of the independent robot wars-y shows and he’s always seemed like a nice enough bloke.

Thor’s been around for a while but it’s always a different robot. It’s nothing like the machine he started off with.

Nuts are like the new Diotoir

The fog of war is pretty much universally hated - It does nothing to improve the show for the viewers so I’m thinking it won’t make a return next season.

What happened to the Robot Wars theme music, too?

Really brilliant final. We need to see some new blood and some returning bots as well to really up the ante. Hopefully people are going to be tempted into it now they've seen how brilliant the new series can be.

strawberry floating great series. :datass: strawberry floating great final. :datass:

Only downside is that I really wanted to see Carbide and Magnetar smash into each other.

Yeah me and the boy just finished watching the final, loved every second of it. We were cheering on Magnetar, but happy to see Eruption win.

Just seen Diotoir is back for the “World Series” specials, the first of which is on on New Year’s Eve! And possibly the return of Sgt. Bash? :o

Just seen it's been cancelled again. strawberry float, BBC. That brand new arena in Scotland was really worth it, wasn't it? :fp:

I think the viewing figures have been pretty atrocious for the last series - but then it wasn't exactly scheduled very well either.

Shame to see it go - but in this era it may get picked up elsewhere?

I think BBC failed Robot Wars more than Robot Wars failed the BBC. I didn't even know the 10th series had started until it was half way through.
