My dad's Christmas present to me has gone walkies, and so has one of DML's Secret Santa presents from me (the seller of which is rather nicely ignoring my messages :simper:).

Yeah, it's hit-and-miss here in saaf-eest Lundn. Post tends to arrive about twice a week at the moment; I received a Christmas card post-dated 17 December on 2 January, and my parents have today had a card dated 16 December. Those delays could have occurred elsewhere rather than locally, of course.

Royal Mail has has been sporadically slower since around about last Summer for me. For a period I had no mail for almost 3 weeks, and then a ton of it turned up in one go. Some days the post man has been as late as 7pm for regular mail. Other weeks it's fine and arrives between 10-12am practically daily. 24 and 48 Hour services have been arriving late (most recently DiRT 5 from Argos missed its 48 hour window by a whole week).

Issues with Future Publishing's subscription/single issue service and diabolical customer service though has been a separate problem ever since they dumped My Favourite Magazines. They don't even respond to PayPal disputes either, so PayPal just refunds the money. Official PlayStation Magazine didn't arrive at all in maybe April or May last year. As it's a subscription rather than a single issue purchase however there was nothing I could do about it.

South Wales and I had two Royal Mail 48 hour deliveries take over two weeks in December. Ordered a Game from one of those pre-owned marketplace sellers on Amazon that was sent on Dec 4th and has not arrived. I'd say it's probably lost, but then I thought the same about the other deliveries and they turned up.

Our postie posted a letter from the 17th december this morning. In other news our postie is driving a white van with highway maintenance written on the back of it to deliver the post!

Had a 48 hour packet arrive today, took 5 days, so not quite as bad as it has been.

I'm waiting to a tracked package which was sent next day delivery, but has been stuck at Tottenham Delivery Office since 30th December. They're on a skeleton staff due to COVID so God knows how long I'll be waiting.

Also posted 4x games I sold on eBay before Christmas which never reached their buyers so I had to refund them :(

Posted a few Christmas cards a couple of weeks before the big day: I think only one arrived before, two by new year's eve, one yesterday and a couple remain unaccounted for  :fp:

Royal Mail has published a list of areas where there have been delivery delays due to its workforce being affected by the Covid pandemic.

The postal service said some areas will see a reduced service due to workers being off sick or self-isolating.

Royal Mail listed 28 areas where post might be late, with 27 in England and one in Northern Ireland.

Problems with deliveries over Christmas had prompted shoppers to complain about parcels not arriving on time.

In a service update on Tuesday, Royal Mail said: "Due to resourcing issues, deliveries in the following areas are likely to be limited."

Those areas are:

Ashford (TN23-TN27)
Barnsley (S70, S71, S72 and S75)
Basildon (SS13-SS16)
Bow (E3)
Bury St Edmunds (IP28-IP33)
Chelmsford (CM1-CM3)
Christchurch (BH23)
Daventry (NN11)
Debden (IG7-IG10)
Enfield (EN1-EN3)
Grays (RM16-RM20)
Hampton (TW12)
Highbury (N5)
Hornsey (N8)
Horsham (RH12, RH13)
Ilford (IG1-IG6)
Leeds City (LS1-LS5)
Lewisham (SE13)
Magherafelt (BT45, BT46)
Margate (CT7-CT9)
Rugeley (WS15)
Somerton (TA11)
South Ockendon (RM15)
South Woodford (E18)
Upper Holloway (N7)
Wandsworth (SW18)
Wellington (TA21)
Widnes (WA8)

Royal Mail said: "Despite our best efforts and significant investment in extra resource, some customers may experience slightly longer delivery timescales than our usual service standards.

"This is due to the exceptionally high volumes we are seeing, exacerbated by the coronavirus-related measures we have put in place in local mail centres and delivery offices to keep our people and customers safe."

In December, Royal Mail had blamed delays on "exceptional volumes" of post.

That list is total bollocks. My non-descript shitehole village isn’t on it and we’ve had strawberry float all for ages.

I've got two late Xmas pressies, one from Scotland and one from Manchester, that were posted end of Dec that are nowhere to be seen.

Conversely, a package I ordered from the strawberry floating USA and dispatched on the 3rd of Jan just arrived.
