Don't know what's gotten into Ireland this tournament. They made that far too easy for Italy, giving away penalties, and making sloppy passes. Hard to believe they managed the bonus point win.

That was in no way a 4 try performance, Im still not sure how we even managed to score 4, Italy werent bad, just failed to punish mistakes like a more clinical team would. Murray and Sexton arent clicking like they need to, but it feels like theres something not quite right in the pack either, I cant help but think that a better performance from the forwards would give Murray and Sexton a bit more time to do what they need to do.

Murray is playing like a drain. As soon as Cooney came on everything sped up.

Excellent article by Guscott on Wales v England:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/47352141

Hard to disagree with much of that. Brilliant performance by Wales second half, Biggar's introduction on 61 minutes was crucial too. Very little worked for Anscombe, I think he has to make a change there v Scotland.

I'm confident we should beat the Scots, haven't been overly impressed with them so far and they have injuries. Not getting carried away with GS talks because I expect the Irish to really turn up in Cardiff.

WRU making a strawberry floating state of this regional restructure. Merging the Scarlets and Ospreys? :fp:

It'll be a miracle if any of the Welsh players actually have their head in the game on Saturday. Makes the win over England even more amazing given that they'd already have had half a mind on this as it was.

Merging teams in Wales, a world league, the premiership selling out to an equity firm, the Pro 14 wanting to add American teams. The current state of rugby is a pile of shite, its like theyre all actively trying to kill the game.

70% of the squad now worrying about where they’ll be next season.

Well done WRU :fp:

It’s a shite idea but if they have to do it, could they not have waited 2 weeks to move forward?

The world league is a total joke, too. Tier 1 nation players have been complaining for a while that international schedules are too demanding, and they damage the club game, so it's a tournament nobody other than the marketing types want. Excluding Pacific Island and other lower tier sides, with no chance of promotion, is strawberry floating stupid, too.

World Rugby seem to have no interest in building a sustainable game below top international level. No chance for smaller nations to develop, and putting the national games at odds with club rugby, by pulling the best players away to new tournaments mid season. It's all short term money driven, building a bubble that's going to bust in a few years time.

Its absolute madness, its being pushed hard by NZ, Aus and Argentina, the first 2 want money and the 3rd wants to solidify its place at the top table. They want 6 Nations money and theyre using the US and Japanese aspirations to get it. There was talk a couple of years ago about a global calendar to stop the 6 nations sides being flogged going down south in June and the opposite being the case in November, but that seems to have morphed in setting up a world league and forcing players to play more games.

Theres been great work done on concussions and player welfare policies in the past few years but this flies in the face of all that, its flogging players into the ground just so a couple of unions can make more money and widen the gap wth the tier 2 nations. New Zealand and Australia make no money so theyre losing players to the northen hemisphere, the lure of the jersey isnt enough any more, South Africa make money but they have a similar problem because theyre dragged down by the other 2. The collective solution seems to be to get the money from the north by any means necessary, players, clubs, teir 2 nations, health of the game, everything else be damned.

Im slowly coming around to the idea that professionalism is actually killing the game, I can now see why people were, and still are opposed to players being paid.

Another nervy victory for Wales. If they have another close win over Ireland it could be the luckiest 6 nations Grand slam in history!

Fully deserved for Wales. Shame it makes the England game pointless now.
