Why do SA get a penalty there? Have no idea what is going on most the time. Looked to me like they threw it sideways into the scrum in their favour, which for some reason then gives them an advantage to run as close to the posts as possible because when the whistle goes next time they get a penalty?!

I don't care. It's the rugby world cup final, it should be exciting.

The scrum is always contentious. The law says they must put in straight but the player putting in can line his shoulder with the centre line of the scrum, giving them an advantage. What SA are doing is outmuscling England and forcing penalties. Not pretty but effective.

Why is the penalty awarded in those circumstances?

Generally the most common penalties are where a team collapses the scrum, or not driving straight.

Losing Sinckler was huge, SA dominating the scrum and will keep getting position and points from it if it carries on like that.

SA definitely the better team but England certainly have a try in them. Think they’ve been a little unlucky with the ref too.

Fresh props. Scrum wasn’t even close.

England are strawberry floated unless they can sort something in the scrum.

Oh right okay, thanks.

I remember trying to play rugby at school and giving away fouls/offsides without having any idea why. Felt like the ref was making it up as he was going along .
