PostWonderful 101 Remastered | Part of Platinum 4 | Free DLC finally out now!
by ITSMILNER » Sat Feb 01, 2020 4:19 pm

Platinum Games have launched this website https://four.platinumgames.com/ which seems to hint towards 4 announcements coming from them. It's expected these will be self-published, AA tier games.

FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT - WONDERFUL 101 REMASTERED KICKSTARTER LAUNCHED
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/platinumgames/the-wonderful-101-remastered

W101 has been funded and will launch on Switch/PS4/PC in April 2020, funding still continues with stretch goals for additional DLC which will be free for backers! I have personally backed the physical version on Nintendo Switch.

What's the deal with Kickstarter if they don't reach the target? Do you get refunded?

I may back a Switch port.

You don’t pay anything. They take money only if/when it’s funded.

This is... interesting. The game didn’t work for me, but I know a lot of people loved it. I hope it works out!

I completed it on the Wii U and I still don't understand how you play it.

It's a lovely little game.

Basically an action game where you control a mob/horde of heroes and they join together to attach as one. The feel of it is really unique and the style is very much platinum meets Nintendo.

I'll pick it up on day one on switch.

Wish my image sig would work

I don’t see why they wouldn’t, imagine it could well have been an exclusive to Nintendo/Nintendo platforms for so many years before it could be released elsewhere, or maybe Platinum bought the rights back off of Nintendo if they didn’t want to release it elsewhere?

Anyway, not something I’d be keen in backing as it really doesn’t appeal to me at all, good for those who want to play/replay though.

Platinum have probably bought the IP back off Nintendo. Or will do if they get support.

Seriously, if this gets more people to experience this game, I'm well behind it.

It's like Pikmin crossed with a Platinum Action game. You can change weapon form on the fly by drawing shapes with one of the analog sticks. The story is a simple, super heroes vs alien invader thing, but it is extremely charming and epic, and well written in terms of character interactions. The voice acting and music is on point as well.

Yeah I got Pikmin vibes while watching gameplay footage.

It sounds like a nice little game, I’m surprised it bombed hard on the Wii U when for awhile, there really wasn’t much to play.

I'd be interested in supporting the Kickstarter for a Switch version... if a cart version were to be available and depending upon the cost. Excited to find out more; hopefully on Monday!

Considering how badly it sold, I’d be more surprised if they were up for it. Nintendo can be very sales driven at times.

It's less surprising when you remember that the Wii U only sold 13.5m units. There was just no install base for a niche game by a (then) niche company who's first and only game on a Nintendo console was Madworld.

Were it released today, on a much more successful console, with the clout that Platinum now has, I've absolutely no doubt it would sell gangbusters.

From what little I saw of it, this always looked like a fun game to me, but now some of the posts in here are making me wonder  I won't kickstart it, but if it ends up on PS4 I will happily try it out.

What's the 4 about then? 4 games in development? 101 port, Bayonetta 3 and the 2 new self published IPs?
