Yeah it's nice to be back in a space that is a bit more sprawling and interconnected. Some of the space like the Profaned Capital were visually interesting but a bit of a let down in terms of their actual layout.

Recently played through and finally finished this for the first time with all the DLC. Not sure it's worth sharing my potentially unfavourable opinions on it all but I thought as a whole it was rather underwhelming. Felt it was essentially more Dark Souls, which I get why Souls fans would love but it being the 3rd entry I kinda expected more. Couple areas I loved exploring were Irithyll, Grand Archives and Archdragon Peak, I only wish they lasted longer or had more to see. Some cool boss fights but mostly the same process of approach from a melee perspective. You could kinda tell they were running out ideas honestly.
I think I just went in with way too high expectations because I heard so many folks throughout the last couple years say it was the best Souls. Personally (I'm about to eat it for this one) I think it's the weakest. I just didn't feel that satisfied by the end. Yes, I'm one of the rare few that actually liked 2 >,>

I like DS2 as well. I think Dark Souls 3 is probably the dullest game, in that it's a bit safe and a lot of the areas are a bit grey. But it's clearly a better game overall than the second, certainly in terms of consistency.

I think I might need to replay 2 before giving any serious claims about enjoying it more than 3. It terms of direction 3 just seemed like retreads of past games. Safe is honestly the best way to put it. Bloodborne might be the answer to all the problems I have with the Souls series. I tried it a while back once but wasn't in the right mindset and dropped it a few hours in. But recently been seeing a lot of hype resurface for it and now I'm kinda itching to try it again.

do it - Bloodborne is refreshing - not a retread of the same ideas again like DS2/3

Yeah I'd recommend Bloodborne. The changes it makes from the Souls games, both mechanically and in terms of themes and setting, make it a really strong entry.

Absolutely hated that health reduction mechanic in Dark Souls 2. Death should be punishment enough. Also, the game has a hard on for throwing a ridiculous amount of enemies at you. That poison area before The Rotten was utter rubbish as well.

I'm assuming there is a good reason to dunk my head in wax in the Grand Archives...

Worked it out in the end, quite handy stuff!

The Lothric Castle area and the Grand Archives have been great, one of the best locations so far I would say.

Not looked at the spoiler there, but as I've not been anywhere that matches that description I'm going to say no!

I'm still poking around in the archives at the moment, it's a really nice layered environment - lots of nooks and crannies to explore. I know there is another boss that I need to return to at some point as well - there was a wall of fog in the Garden at the base of the castle that I haven't been through yet.

The Garden is the dirty place I mentioned. It's filthy and poisonous!
But yeah you can look at spoiler

I remember so little of this game, only played through it the once. I might pick it up again later in the year as I've yet to play any of the DLC.

It's a bit mucky I'll grant you, I wouldn't go so far as to call it filthy!

I looted most of the poison area but need to go back and check what else I might have missed. Those corrupted human enemies that are around there are bloody annoying though. :dread:

Oceiros was an atrocious fight, good lord. I had to get that off my chest sorry lol. There's an Esty Shard in this area too if remember right so worth digging around for that if you haven't already.
