I'm guessing that the former is a boss battle so I'll return to that and search the Lake after that section is finished.

When I entered the Catacombs, I had expected that skeletons to resurrect themselves but it seems that only a few do so and only once. Nonetheless, it was still pretty tricky to make my way through the tunnels, especially with the traps that made it even harder to avoid getting hit.

The smouldering lake has loot galore, so search it well, there is a boss in there to, but its not part of the main game, optional, but just make sure the loot the whole place.

I'll probably go there to take a break from Irithyll where I ran away from the beast on the bridge and the swordspeople who inflict frost annihilate me with their attacks.

The Wolnir fight just before this wasn't too bad but it took me a bit of time to work out to avoid its blue mist attack.

Sounds like you're there too early, the pontiff knights should give you grief but not massive issues if you can dodge their attacks.

I'm playing a dex dude and there's literally too many steps to dodge in their combo but I equipped a shield for that area and it was a lot easier. Had to use a crappy weapon though since my main one is the twin sellsword blades things.

I had another go at Irithyll and managed to make some progress once I paid attention to the Pointiff Knights to block and avoid their attacks. In the middle of my play session, I did end up checking out the Lake but the huge bastila has put me off going back in a hurry. While I was there, I did find Horace but now I can't find Anri in the Catacombs. There was what looked like a prism stone where she should have been so maybe she will turn up.

When I next play, I'm going to look around Irithyll some more and try to work out where to go next.

I managed to find Anri in a church and ended up in a lake that seems to give infinite stamina...

...aaaaaaaaaaaaand that beast from the bridge destroyed me. I'll leave it there tonight but I'm not in a hurry to fight it again :dread: I did manage to get it down to half its health on the bridge so hopefully I'll have better luck in a more open area, despite the slower movement in the water.

I'm cautiously optimistic! :P

Yeah, you hit a trigger point for her and now she's moved on to her next stop.

I'm so close to this Platinum. I honestly thought I was going to get it tonight. I'm sitting on 28/30 Proof Of A Concord Kept covenant items in order to get the last miracle and just got every ring (bar one, which my checklist handily neglected to mention had a +2 version, I was extremely confused when I got what i thought was the final ring).

Unfortunately, turns out the ring I'm looking for is at the end of the Archive. Turns out the Archive doesn't open until after you defeat all of the lords of cinder prior to it. I've been doing a pure ring run and only got up as far as the last ring on each path. But at least they shouldn't be too bad, even on NG++.

Guess I'm getting it tomorrow.

I met next to no NPC's, they're either dead or MIA

The thing on the bridge i lured to the beginning where it couldn't come past :slol: There are two of them in a sewer later in the game.

The NPC triggers, and even their starting locations, are the most awkward they've ever been.

There's one guy's quest you can screw up by going to a bonfire less than a minute away from where he is, in the opposite direction. So if you flip a coin at that branch you're strawberry floated.

That has annoyed me because using the guide as a reference for NPC's I'm gutted i missed so many :x

Id have never have guessed that guy was at the bottom of the well, theres literally no indication he is there

Congrats Met.

On the subject of NPCs, I found that hunched over pilgrim you find amongst a bunch of others who seem to have turned to stone but then by the time I spoke to her in firelink she was already dead, keeled over on the floor. WTH? It doesn't bother me so much though, it's what gives these games replay value and I've enjoyed backtracking and finding extra people.

Yoel's questline is...involved.

It spans the entire game, multiple characters, requires a certain amount of moon logic and has hard trigger points you can miss. You're not going to fall arse backwards through it.

If you want to do the NPC quests then you really need a guide. It's ridiculous how convoluted they are compared to previous games.

I've gotten as far as Prince Lothric and I think I've hit 'strawberry float it' point. If anyone's got any top tips for beating him with minimal attritional bullshit, they would be gratefully received. But until then, I think I'm done.

I hate this, I told myself DS3 would be the first one I finish without looking at Youtube or any guide. I'll no doubt give in if I'm missing out on NPC quests.

PS4. Can't even summon as I'm currently without internet (new house + Talktalk = 6 week-long (and counting) clusterfuck.

I did have a browse through a guide to find out if I could complete an NPC quest that might benefit me, but it was like I was reading about a completely different game. Serris? Horace? WHO???

Stupid game.

If you get all 4 scrolls for Orbeck and buy all his spells he'll help you out.

Really? Is he decent? Or will he die instantly like my ally fighting Yorm, he walked up to him and was dead in seconds :slol:
