Do you plan to get into the DLC too? I personally did them before the last boss, but that ended up making it considerably easier since I was super levelled >,>

I don't actually own the DLC at this point. When I got DS3 a few years back it was my first souls game so as I wasn't sure if I was going to take to it I just picked up the base game in a Steam sale when it was only a few quid.

Might have to see if I can grab the DLC cheap somewhere.

Since you've come this far I say it's well worth checking out. Nice change of pace compared to base game.

im playing this now: started a new (dex) character because i cant remember what id done - i can always go back to my other character at a later point.
this is definitely slow feeling after coming from Bloodborne - but im slowly getting the hang of it.

Not yet, I've not touched this for a couple of weeks now - Doom and FFVII have kind of got in the way of my Souls 3 journey!

Will definitely return to finish things though as I was enjoying the ride, think I had just finished Archdragon peak in my last session.

just beat Dragonslayer Armour and im now in the Archives.
pretty cool area but still, and im sad to say this, Bloodborne is better :shifty: - the combat is more fun. ill keep playing but the pace and back-and-forth is just more enjoyable with the easier parries, health rallying etc. one big upside though is no more farming health items, thank you Estus

right im at the Kiln of the First Flame now: i found the Dreg Heap, havent killed the Consumed King, and i know i missed Smouldering Lake so im going to do them before i take on the boss i saw sitting down at the Kiln.
i really enjoyed Twin Princes so enjoying this a bit more now - definitely feels easier than Bloodborne so far im not sure if i was just bad at Bloodborne

You'll need to have found a particular gesture to access Archdragon Peak - you'll find it in The Consumed King's Garden, you'll know if you've got it because the name is a pretty obvious indicator.

In terms of where you use the gesture there's a place in Irithyll Dungeon where you'll see a dragon acolyte frozen overlooking a sort of cliff edge, there's a rug on the ground here where you'll need to use the Path of the Dragon gesture and you'll get whisked off to the Peak!

I think I found Bloodborne easier than this but then some will tell you that's because I cheated my way through Yharnam!

Archdragon Peak is legit the best area in all of the Dark Souls games.

I wouldn't go quite that far myself but it's a bloody good area that's for sure!

Bought the game and DLC on PS4 this morning so I'll be getting a replay in before lockdown ends. I never played the DLC first time round so looking forward to it.

Started a new game yesterday and it's surprising how much I'm actually remembering, down to ambushes, mimics, etc. I couldn't have told you anything about DS3 before playing but it's all coming back to me really quickly.

I think I played it originally immediately after DS2 and probably not long after Bloodborne so I think the events of DS3 just melded into one big soup in my mind.

I'm now up to Pontiff Sulyvahn and also the dungeons below his area and I can safely say that Bloodborne reigns supreme. I really dislike the wide open areas this game seems to have a lot of and I think it has some of the cheapest feeling enemies out of all their games. I'm getting frustrated quite often and I'm losing tonnes of souls like never before.

Maybe I'm just not in the zone?

I think there are enough subtle but fundamental differences in the combat between Bloodborne and Souls that mean you really do need to recalibrate when switching between the two, I was getting spanked all over the shop when I went from BB to DS3 last year and it took a while to adapt again.

I do think that Bloodborne is a better game with significantly better area design than most of DS3 though so that is probably a factor in how you are feeling towards it, there are some great sections in this game but I felt like it kept a lot of them until later in the game and even those struggled to reach the level of some of what Bloodborne and DS1 managed to achieve.

Zilnad i found that early on in the game; it is different to Bloodborne and i dont think the combat loop is as fun. however once you get the hang of it (takes a while!) its a lot more fun.
Dragonslayer armour to Prince Lothric
are really good levels and bosses
