So I lasted all of a few hours on DSIII NG :slol: I have no idea how other people can play the game many times over.

I don't usually start noticing the difference until much later. In Dark Souls it wasn't until Four Kings who just became nigh impossibly difficult 2nd and 3rd time round.

EDIT: I just watched a video of somebody doing the tree jump up to the roof of the darkened Firelink in Untended Graves when the illusory wall had already been cleared and the chest with the ring in was empty. Could that along with the fact you find the Blacksmith's Hammer where he would be imply that you are in the same shrine but in the future?

You've collected the bowl, yes? Interact with the statue. (You should see game generated floor messages telling you that.)

Now the real fight begins, etc.

What bowl?

Before you fought dancer there was a old lady in the room with you. When she disappeared a bowl remained. You beat dancer and interact with the statue below the ladder. (The ladder which is opposite the entrance to the room.)

Cheers - took the left and eventually got to that familiar area, but just a bit darker than before and collected the various items. What a wonderful little side area! Straight ahead and that red eyed knight is causing me some problems even though I am now leveled up to 84.

Not sure how far I am into the game, but may give gaming a rest after this one as its been intense, with Bloodborne and The Witcher 3 before this, both taking up well over 100 hours, which is a bit crazy and embarrassing if I am going to be honest!

I wouldn't think too much about the shrine from what's there or not there. Dying in the dark shrine leaves your Souls in the light one and vice versa.

It's certainly the same place from a different time, but I kind of broke my brain thinking about it.

Ludleth talks about the firekeeper you find there as if she's from his age and the shrine maiden mentions the bell not tolling yet so it seems to be the past. Gundyr is also in his prime as the champion rather than as the judge acting as the coiled sheath. But at the same time it's clearly further in a cycle than the game is so it suggests the future, or at least so far back it's a different age.

Then comes the issue with it being physically connected to the world, while the light shrine isn't.

Long story short: when the fire is threatened time becomes convoluted which is what let's you summon in people who have already died like Tarkus in DaS1 or Tsorig in 3. The fire is so far gone this time they mention that space is becoming just as convoluted with realms of various lords converging on Lothric and the landscape changing drastically over the course of days (main example being the high wall).

This is even more obvious looking at the final area which just looks like a whole kingdom mashed together into a single building.

So with time and space being thrown into whack it could be the past, future, and present as an alternate universe all at the same time.

Tldr on the tldr: don't think too hard about it.

Had a productive day today. Beat the Deacons, then went back to the Abyss Watchers, which I'd previously got a bit bored of and bailed on, and beat them too -- it was much easier this time since I'd levelled up a bit, got a new weapon, and I spotted a summon sign outside.

I'm at the worn-down bridge in the Catacombs now. Going to try the Fire Demon / Mimic trick someone mentioned in here earlier. :shifty:

The Aldrich one is the only one that seems to work on a regular basis. I get summoned all the time into other people's games from that. It obviously helps that the location is the big PvP hotspot.

It's kinda dumb that you basically screw yourself out of those covenants if you over level. Would be better if it scaled you down like it does when co-oping with a password.

GAME have only gone and lost my order... TWICE! How hard would it be to charge customers extra money for parcel tracking? I should just play it in Japanese but it's gotten to the point of stubbornness now. Had someone buy it in the UK and post me a copy recorded delivery instead.

I ordered this on release day!!

Beaten the lothric prince with help from two, very accomplished players from around the world! Not sure i could complete this game on my own - some bosses are very tough and would require a lot of patience to beat.

Where do i go now? It doesn't seem obvious as theres no area immediately after. That bit before getting to the prince is pretty tough in itself if it were to be done alone!

You been to the smouldering lake yet? Goodies galore there. Been away from this for a week, I was getting frustrated at the part you're at I think, those knights would cut me down in seconds if i let them get a combo going :x

After Prince Lothric: go to Shrine. Place his soul in throne.
