Hopefully they resolve issues such as the resolution scaling bug soon.

Did GG handle this themselves? Can't believe they sent it out like that. Can't imagine they'd have done the same with a PS4 game.

Still playing through this now, it's very enjoyable even if it lacks that something extra to push it up into the leagues of great open world games.

But strawberry float me does Aloy ever shut up? Wandering the wilds enjoying the gameplay and scenery and she feels the need to give a strawberry floating constant narration on everything - the weather, the terrain, whether things are currently hunting her, nearby locations etc. SHUT THE strawberry float UP!

I wouldn't mind so much but half of it bears no relation to what is actually going on at that point in time!

Wild Down!

I'd take Reyn's battle cries over Aloy's inane chatter any day!

Finished the main game of this last night and really enjoyed it, loved the world they set up and the story surrounding it. I’ll be moving onto Frozen Wilds next and probably mop up any last side missions I have left.

I'm also playing this on the PS4 at the moment. Currently showing around 60% completion. Really enjoying it, really solid game.

This game need to be updated to 4k/60fps on PS5 like God of War and Days Gone.

Definitely. I'd be surprised if they didn't do it.

It isn’t already?! With a sequel on the way? That’s bizarre.

I need to try and get back into this as I was enjoying it for a while but my PS4 controller is completely strawberry floated now - I can't even get past the system menu as it thinks the stick is just locked to the left so I can't click on the icon to start the game! :fp:

Finished the Frozen Wilds portion now and that’s me done, I thoroughly enjoyed that! The whole universe they built was really interesting and I loved exploring and finding out more as you went along. I never finished all the side stuff but I got my fill of the whole package (playtime came in around 32 hours)

Roll on Forbidden West :toot:

I've unlocked the final mission and sat at just over 80% completion and have just taken my first steps into the Frozen Wilds. It doesn't feel quite right, opening up a whole new sub story whilst the final mission is sat there waiting to be played, so I've put it to one side for the time being and popped back to the side missions I had left to play in the main game proper.

Making my way through the Frozen Wilds section of this at the moment and for the most part I'm having a blast! When it works right the combat in this is really excellent - challenging in the right ways but rarely does it feel cheap or frustrating and there is plenty of scope for how you want to engage with each encounter.

The Banuk area in Frozen Wilds is really nicely designed as well, plenty of interesting terrain to explore and things to do which is nice. I think one of the things that lets the main game down is that you seem to spend a lot of time in the Carja area which is probably the most visually dull - vast parts of it are just sandy expanses and hills that you can't really climb.

Biggest frustrations with the game are things that I'm really hopeful they will have ironed out for the sequel and it all revolves around movement and traversal. Too often Aloy seems to get caught on scenery, refuses to jump over things that she can obviously vault etc. This makes getting around more annoying than it should be and doubly so when you're in the middle of combat and it happens. Beyond that just the lack of climbing options is a big limitation - many times your objective will be relatively near "as the crow flies" but you'll have to make a massive detour because Aloy refuses to climb up a bit of a slope. :fp: The reports that they have added free climbing and the shield paraglider into Forbidden West has got me really excited for it!

The character/facial animation is much improved in Frozen Wilds which is nice. The base game is almost hilariously bad in that regard - every exchange is just two people stood still looking at each other will gormless expressions and occasionally shifting their weight from one foot to the other, in the expansion they finally decided that adding a bit of movement and expression to the conversations and cutscenes was a good idea!

Think I'm pretty much done with Frozen Wilds now, at least I can't see any more quests to start there and I've mopped up everything I can see on the map. Still need to get top place on the final hunting grounds thing but I think I'll come back to that later.

Progressed the main story a bit more and it is definitely still growing on me, even if the method of delivering it is still very clunky. I've been impressed by how far they pushed the bleakness of the situation in the past.

I forgot to go back to frozen wilds after I took a break once I completed the main quest. Might just play the while thing again this autumn instead since it's been a while since I played it. Actually, might time it to be before the sequel - help keep the story fresh if it seems up being important.

Frozen Wilds is definitely worth doing, some of the best stuff that I've encountered in the game so far is in there.

I finally got around to playing this the other day. Better late then never. So far I'm incapable of playing the game without going into photo mode every few minutes. The game is ridiculously pretty, like jeezus what sorcery is going on here. I'm playing resolution mode on my Pro which makes my console sound like it's about to combust, but thankfully my headphones are pretty good lol. Love the world building so far even tho I'm still really early on.
