The PC edition will support Steam achievements and ultrawide resolutions, see below:

I wonder if the reason they're doing this is they're making a next gen upgraded version and they may as well use the opportunity to make a PC version as it makes sense.

I think it's more that HZD2 is likely coming in the next few years on the PS5, and given we're end of gen, Sony figure putting it out on PC will generate some more sales and interest on the IP without impacting the PS4.

Nice! Looking forward to that. Hopefully there'll be some promos on somewhere, though.

Ended up grabbing this on PS4 in the recent sale as I felt sorry for the machine for barely getting used, but it's still great that it's out on PC soon

UK Steam price has gone up to £39.99. I think they've put the price up in a lot of places because people were using VPN to buy it cheap from places like Argentina, where it initially went on sale for the equivalent of $7 US!

Yeah but if they've done the work for the PC port you'd think they'd roll out the upgrades to PS5 as it would surely require very little effort.

I don't know how much effort it would take put it seems not to make sense from a business perspective. If they have already sold the game their console players then the market for people who will buy it again is small. Maybe we will see it at some point in the future but it hardly seems like a priority.

It depends on if they think they can do a Skyrim and sell upgrade versions.
I'm not sure that works now but they may give it a try. Maybe if they think the upgrades are enough to get people to spend again.

Enjoy.

It was the first game I played on my new 4K TV and it was stunning.

If anyone has a spare stack of cash lying around, Sideshow is working on a 1:4 scale figure of Aloy, which will be available for a cool $1,100:

Finally made a start on this last night, it's got all the hallmarks of being a fairly standard open world experience but I did enjoy the opening and the set up for the story so far seems like it could be interesting.

Partly wish I had waited for the PC version though, it feels nice to play but I bet it would be even better at 60 fps!

My experience might be different to everyone else, but I really enjoyed my play through mainly because I did all the side quests before any main story, when possible.

The main story is fantastic, but doing it this way meant it felt more condensed, and I was more invested in the world as the story progresses. It was very much a game of two halves doing it this way, and I'm glad I did.

Something to consider.

Interesting, I'll bear that in mind! I've only dabbled in the opening area so far and haven't really progressed the story but have stumbled across a couple of side quests that look interesting.

I always go on a side quest binge in open world games, too - it's great way of getting into the flow of the mechanics and the structure of the game. But I also learned to make it a point to stop doing them while they're still enjoyable. This is because I found doing too many would mean I would then become sick of the game world, and would then feel very impatient with the rest of the game, wanting it to be over asap, which would mean rushing through dialogue, not bothering reading/listening to everyone or thing, etc, etc. So I prefer to mix up the side and main missions.

There's an absolutely cracking bit of animation work in one of the side missions in HZD. It's part of a big game hunt type storyline. (You start doing missions for a lodge or club or something.) It's so good but you may miss it if you blink  So keep your eyes peeled when you near the climax of that storyline!

Played a bit more of this on PS4 last night. My word the facial animation is atrocious! There are games from more than 10 years ago that do a better job of creating far more believable and reactive human faces!

The port is kind of disappointing but it's still very playable.

Hopefully they resolve issues such as the resolution scaling bug soon.
