RE6 corrected 5's faults and flaws, perfected the co-op system and was a much more worthwhile addition to the series.

I had forgot about the "perfected" co-op mode, in truth. I did like how RE6 kicked you back to the title screen if your connection dropped, the more seamless approach in RE5 was seriously flawed in that respect. Random waiting screens on intersection points while you wait for people who are almost certainly not going to appear outside the launch window was great for immersion too.

The new weapon system, which tied them to chapters and saves, was great for drop-in play too, especially if you liked things going out of sync. I remember the delightful discovery of loading up a co-op game to find the co-op partner only had the starting pistol and shotgun, was trapped in a split gameplay section requiring them to snipe, and the game only spawned sniper ammo for a weapon they didn't have. More games should really learn from 6's co-op, although I don't think we agree about what those specific learnings should be. :P

5 sold fairly consistently, yet RE6 sales dropped off much more suddenly after launch. RE6 dropped off due to quality issues, which Capcom acknowledged when they released patches to try and address it. If RE5 sold mainly on back of people expecting RE4HD, why didn't the same thing occur for that? Personally speaking, I'd also take a shitty Wesker plot over an embarrassing, incoherent love story any day of the week! :dread:

I never played co-op (or any other bit of the game) online, always just with the wife in split-screen. :shifty:

Boo this man! Although the second point, about the weapons, occurs offline too if you aren't playing consistently with the same person.

So what did you mean by perfected co-op then? I assumed you meant online, but offline I can't really think of any obvious differences. Apart from the larger chapters meaning it's less drop-in friendly, which seems like a worse thing. Although I'm pretty sure that is patched now, which makes it less of an issue now, but still a deal-breaker to the majority who picked it up pre-patch.

Just because it's a better utilized co-op mode doesn't mean it's a total better game than RE5.

Try either of the Gun Survivor games before you say that.

Try playing Gaiden before you say that :dread:

Whilst 5 was better than 6 overall, I have to admit to enjoying them both. 5 did suffer from an ultimately unsatisfying villain (oh look, it's Wesker....again....) and in 6 the partner AI was vastly improved when you were only playing in Single Player rather than co-op.
Revelations was better than both of them though. Revelations is on-par with 4 and 1-Remake as the best of the Resi games.

It doesn't have a better co-op mode than 5 anyway.

Wasn't the tagline for 6 something about the END of days? Sigh.

Still if 6 was the best they could manage. Just put it to rest alongside Silent Hill.

RE5 was boring, RE6 was exciting, and AC3 was great too.

RE6 is a pile of gooseberry fool.

It's control system is broke
The animations are laughable
The gameplay borders on horrific

Exciting isn't a word I'd use :dread:

The controls are good.
The animations are fine.
The gameplay is like RE4 and 5, but better.
