discord has been great for allowing me and my friends carrying on dnd during lockdown

Forums and discord are better at different things, so "which is better" depends what you want out of it. A lot of GRcade forum activity is actually kind of chat room like and would migrate well to discord, like TCRT (clue in the name!) but we also have long form discussions that suit the forum format better. For example, Discord would be great for playing a live single-sitting game of mafia while a forum is better for asynchronous mafia played over several days or weeks. Discord is better for getting into games of Apex and jumping into voice chat, while a forum is better for an organised competition like Are You A Master Mario Maker.

It's not as good as discord, but it's a million times better than the garbage teams.
