Is it just me that the classic mode seem pointless? I thought it would be a proper old turn based RPG but it wasn't?

I tried it yesterday too.

The graphics were great, the setting and atmosphere was just as i had hoped, but the battle system was a mess.

I chose 'classic' on the assumption it would mean a return to turn based combat, but it wasn't. As a result i found the boss battle to be a confusing mash of attacking with an occasional spell, and i was left massively disappointed by it.

I probably won't be buying.

The battle system is a far cry from a mess. You actually have to think about what you're doing.

I've downloaded this but haven't played it yet. The custom theme alone though brought back so many memories with the soundtrack and sound effects.

I’m unsure on this. Loved it on so many levels but the combat just isn’t clicking for me. I breezed through but it felt all flashy and a bit drawn out, especially the boss fight. I think my biggest gripe is the episodic nature. FF7 is my favourite game so I don’t want to be stuck waiting years between each one with the risk of it never being finished. And the question of how progress will carry over? I don’t want to grind episode one to find I start at a preset level on episode 2, but then if not people will power grind in the long wait between episodes and ruin the difficulty.

I played the demo today and it's really enjoyable. Will wait for reviews as I'm torn between this and Nioh 2.

Wish my image sig would work

Finally got around to playing this. It looks stunning, and the music is brilliant too. Brought back so many memories. Gameplay-wise, I quite liked it. I thought the combat was fine, and the while the boss dragged on slightly, it wasn't anything too bad. It really dawned on me what an undertaking it is though to remake the game in this level of detail and with the production values so high. I hope they pull it off and get everything done that they want to. I'm reluctant to buy each instalment for £60 or whatever it is - think I'd rather wait and buy them all once they've been released - but I'll see how things pan out. The nostalgia though.

Just pre ordered this - Should I get the demo now too? Or hold out for the month?

I'd hold out, personally. The opening hour is good, but it isn't something I'd really want to play twice (particularly the boss fight).

Is anyone doing an official strategy guide for this by any chance? If ever there was a game that required a guide book and something to really delve into, FFVII would be it. Even the remaining gaming magazines don’t do them any more, as time consuming as they no doubt are. We need the return of PowerStation and PlayStation Solutions!

Replayed the demo tonight, love everything about it except the combat which I'm becoming increasingly concerned about. Really hoping it reveals itself to be much better when the final game starts to show more about it

In an email that may have something to do with their upcoming warehouse and stock alternations due to the Coronavirus, Amazon UK has changed the release date to TBD.

Release date update:

Might start shipping it earlier, or allowing people to purchase a few days early if possible (like GAME has done with Doom)?

I was originally going to order it from Amazon as I had a voucher from work, but I think I might knock this back a little bit now. I've got other things to play and a VR headset to mess with, so I can wait for this to be on a digital sale or something.

I was probably going to go digital for this anyway but I hope they manage to handle the physical release as well as possible despite the disruption.

Would love it if they just release the game early on digital stores. If the damn game has gone gold, then surely the higher street retailers wouldn’t complain much considering the situation?

You'd hope not, but Gamestop have declared themselves as "Essential" in order to stay open, so I can absolutely see them kicking up a stink.

Having decided to pre-order, I got an email from GAME this morning saying that they're going to begin taking payment and processing orders within the next couple of days, though don't get your hopes up too high...

Your order won't reach you early; the email just means it's being held ready to be shipped.

I would cancel the pre order. They might be about to go under.

Can anyone explain to me?

I read that it's not a full game, is it? So how does it work to get the full game? Another release date for the second episode which it means to pay another £40-50 for it or just download the DLC included the price of the first disc? :dread:

They've not said how many parts, but basically each one is going to be a full priced purchase by the look of it.

So if you want to wait for a "complete" package I think you'll be waiting a good few years.
