Yeah I mean c'mon, that's an easy point to miss/forget, it is only the central aspect of the ENTIRE strawberry floating GAME!

I genuinly don't remember that. Was that the part where you had to go to space with Sid?

Sephiroth calls down Meteor to harm the planet in the second half (ish) of the game. It's basically the core of the antagonists plan to take all the power from the planet - the lifestream.

It's the big red blob in the sky that nearly destroys Midgar at the end of the game.

Sephiroth uses the Black Materia to summon a giant meteor which will be enough of a threat to the planet to pull out all the Life Stream which he/Jenova can then absorb to become a god.

It's the major plot focus of the last third of the game

It does relate to the part where you go into space to be fair. The plan is to destroy Meteor by crashing the Shinra rocket into it with the Huge Materia inside.

It doesn't work though so your trip to space is a bit of a let down really. Although Cid does get to use his cute "looking through the escape pod porthole animation" which is always nice.

EDIT: I'm sure we will get to replay that when part 12 of this remake launches in 2029. ;)

Squall? Doomtrain? Lionheart? They've clearly messed around with this FF7 remake way more than they should have. I'm out.

FFS wrong topic :shifty:

Im not sure I would want a remake of 8 though. I feel that FF6 needs a good makeover

I wouldn't mind a definitive edition of 4-6. Ones with the GBA additions, but with better sound, and graphics that don't look like my first attempt at sprite work like the mobile/pc releases.

SQUARE ENIX® announced today that the global release date for FINAL FANTASY® VII REMAKE will be April 10, 2020.

Below is a message from the development team:

“We know that so many of you are looking forward to the release of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE and have been waiting patiently to experience what we have been working on. In order to ensure we deliver a game that is in-line with our vision, and the quality that our fans who have been waiting for deserve, we have decided to move the release date to April 10, 2020.

We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience. I, on behalf of the whole team, want to apologize to everyone, as I know this means waiting for the game just a little bit longer.

Thank you for your patience and continued support” - Yoshinori Kitase, Producer of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE.

That's a delay of about a month? Meh, not that fussed, I've been waiting for 10+ years for a FFVII remake so I can wait another few weeks.

... and then wait another few years to play the rest of it!

EDIT: It does put it in to fairly busy territory - Doom, Resi 3, Cyberpunk and some other big games are all out around that time.

Yeah it's going to be a killer!

I'm slowly building up parts for a new PC build for Cyberpunk as well which has been hitting my wallet hard. Original plan was to go all in and grab VR for HL: Alyx as well but that may have to wait!

A delay of a month isn't that bad at all.
