Be prepared to have your heart broken then.

Just kidding, this is really good!

Just done chapter 1

Right amounts of nostalgia and modern gaming, felt a bit emotional what an opening

Apart from 'that' sewer section.

Almost ruined the game for me it was that bad.

Yeah that's a bit of a low point.

There are definitely a fair few points where I would seriously trim the experience personally, but overall it's definitely not enough to weaken the whole package too badly.

The combat carries those sections, if it wasn't as good as it is the game would suffer a lot more in my opinion.

The narrative to that sewer section is some Yakuza side mission gooseberry fool

Finally started playing again on Hard. I take it items can never be used at all even when not in combat.

Really? That seems like an excessive restriction!

More interesting way of making the game hard than just "make dah numbas big"

It's more the fact that items still seem to exist but you just can't use them

Makes it feel like an afterthought rather than something properly incorporated into the game design

Can't you still sell them?

And also iirc FF7 let's you chapter skip so you could potentially pick up items in hard mode then use them in normal if you were playing back through to get other trophies.

Or am I missremembering?

You can but I don’t think you unlock hard until after you complete the game so you don’t need items, money or materia at this point.

Collecting items seens redundant, i dont need money because i have everything already. I would have liked to used items outside of battle to up my MP or reheal without using MP but it is what it is.

It makes you go into battle with different tactics and you have to watch Mp as you can’t restore it. Also cant revive players unless they all have revive materia. If you die you just start back before the last battle so get another chance to tackle it differently.

Only doing it for the trophy. I guess it will get hard towards the end as you are not levelling up.

Hell House is awful on Hard as you can’t gain MP between matches and than you’re screwed! Especially when it starts shielding and healing itself

I didn't enjoy that fight the first time around, can't imagine how painful it is on Hard! :dread:

Finally completed on Hard, mostly easy with a few really stupidly hard bits, hell house being one and the whispers at the end being another.

Still hate the way the story is going, all the bits that are from the original are near on perfect, personally for me it’s just a shame they have gone all kingdom hearts. All the best bits from the OG now ruined! I would have been happy if the last boss battle was escaping Midgar.

Im still battled, as to how to feel about it. Part of me only wanted a straight remake of the original, and on the other side I am very curious as to how they can develop the story now, mainly after seeing the ending on Intergrade.

Would have been nice to be able to play the whole game remade, and have the whole world map open revamped but I guess we can forget that now

After holding out for ages, I finally caved and started the ps4 version this morning.

Shivers down the spine during the intro

The battle feels like it'll take a bit of getting used to, but it seems pretty cool so far. Just completed chapter 1.
