Yeah, the voice clips they've demoed sound strawberry floating atrocious. Hopefully there's a way to turn off the voices or at least download a Japanese language pack.

Oh man, the new version of the battle theme is just perfect.

I'm starting to get the hype now. Pretty, pretty hyped.

I wouldn't even mind changing to German or whatever. I just don't want to be aware of how shite it is.

It's especially frustrating because the voice acting in FFXIV now these days is top tier. Why not just use the same studio instead of this anime dub trash.

Aerith's VA is a youtuber.

Well, I hope at least they brought her in because they (incorrectly) thought she was the right fit, rather than a marketing stunt for a new generation, because if it's the latter, I'm super worried about what other gooseberry fool they've attempted.

Yeah the voice acting sounds poor, but hopefully we can change language packs to solve that.

Battle theme clip sounds immense, hope the rest of the soundtracks stacks up, some of their previous re-orchestrations of the music have been poor IMO. The stuff in Advent Children never really hit the spot for me and things like this version of Aerith's Theme are just way too overdone:

Also that latest trailer featuring Biggs as a man has confirmed that this version is now no longer part of my internal canon, as in my head Biggs was a lady in a polyamorous relationship with both Wedge and Jessie. Fanfic back catalogue of their adventures before the destruction of Sector 7 is available on request ;)

And that news has me interested. If only it wasn’t episodic bullshit.

If it wasn’t episodic we could be waiting for a long time.

Interesting to see that they’ve expanded the story in Midgar. Was worried that the remake would BE very short if it just feature the content from the original.

I’m really hyped for this now. May pick it up on day one.

I hope they will let us carry our saves from the first game into the second. I don’t want to play the second part with all your abilities/materia reset back to zero. Or thou may end up finishing the first game with level 100 characters which can result in future episodes more easier.

Maybe they’ll let the enemies/bosses scale up levels on par with yours, just like FFVIII.

I mean, if we assume the next few episodes will be interations on the first and that assets for the next entries are already being worked on were still looking at another 2/3 years until the next one. If they keep going at this rate we're looking at over 10 years until the 'game' is finished.

I imagine the next few will cover much more though. I can see FFVII-2 covering up until the end of Golden Saucer at least. Hopefully.

I’d imagine the second episode will end on that death. Cliff hanger ending for those who’ve not played it before.

Midgar is by far the "densest" section of the game, a lot of the locations after it are pretty thin in terms of content so although I'm sure they plan to beef stuff up a bit in general they should in theory be able to rattle through a fair amount more in the next "chapter" of this.

For me the game doesn’t really open up and get good until you leave Midgar. From leaving Midgar until the northern cave is probably the defining experience of my childhood. So many memorable moments and locations. Gold saucer, battle of Junon, Turks on holiday in Wutai, snowboarding and the snow village, the boat trip to Costa del sol. The creepy shinra mansion. Love it. The opening section whilst good is the weakest part for me.

Not bad, although I always liked the minimalism of the PS1 era art we got in EU (and I think the JPN version was the same too) just showing the title. :datass:

That remake logo is awful. Extruded planet black text on a black.background plus the R is partially on the planet, so looks like Emake.

Yeah the logo itself is a downgrade if anything!

Looks good, but why did they split the game up? This should have been delayed until 2022 and just released as a ps5 exclusive.
