Summon Materia DLC? :dread:

Just think of how many items and mechanics they could hide behind paywalls on this if they wanted to! :fp:

Yeah that's what I thought. And scary enough, there are more "episodes" to come. Imagine the sheer amount you have to spend to get all of the statue editions. :dread:

The deluxe edition will only have two of three summon material DLCs.

They sure know how to milk this., I'll give them that.

Also those summon materials wasn't in the original were they?

Carbuncle and Cactuar are in VIII I believe. I think Chocobo Chick is all new?

I'm assuming (dangerously probably!) that the summons from the original game are all present and correct in the base game and they are just adding others like this as a bonus...

Yeah they are additions and not in the original game so I’m fine with that.

Carbuncle could be an interesting addition depending on how other mechanics work in the new game. Reflect was so easily abused in the original game that I can see that being pretty game breaking, especially if you get these "bonus" summons early on.

Saddest part in all this, after march when I finish midgar, I’ll have to wait to complete the game

How can it be episodic across generations though?

Will you just start from scratch in FFVII-2 on PS5 with none of your levelled up characters? Won’t that mess up a big part of the games RPG elements?

"Generations" are basically a dead concept now - the PS5 is just a better PS4, all your games and accounts and cloud saves etc. will just see it as another place you play.

I thought this looked absolutely amazing, definitely my personal highlight of E3 so far. Iwas a little unsure on the battles beforehand but the demonstration looked great. I can understand the logic behind them splitting into parts and Midgar itself being one part, it's going to be a huge game. My only worry is how many parts they are going to make and how long it will take them. They'll surely make at least 2 more parts which could easily take them another decade. Still, I'll look forward to this one and go from there, really can't wait to play it after all this time :D

aheh

The real big problem with this being cross-gen is that there's going to be a fidelity difference between entries. It's an "imperfect" package, untill they remaster the remake for next gen. What's coming out next year isn't going to be something you'll be replaying in 5 years, because it's going to be the worst version of the remake ever released.

True, you'll be starting this series on PS4 but you'll be finishing on PS5.

TGS trailer. Lots of Tifa and the Turks in this one.

It also looks like it's making some big changes in the plot. Those weird ghost things are all over the place, there's what looks like a new mini-antagonist in the form of a new SOLDIER character, the war with Wutai seems to be taking more prominence and there's a parachute scene?

Ok.

Looks good, I don't mind them mixing it up a bit either - the original isn't going anywhere so I can always play that if I want the exact same story again.

Music sounded a bit shite in that trailer though...

This looks so good, I never really played much of the original so this will be a fresh experience to me.

Jesus christ this looks good.

The Turks. Squats in the gym. Preparing to dress up as a woman and pull The Don. Hell yes 8-)

Definitely excited they are fleshing out the game, completed original 3 times and bought it 3 times so welcome expansion.

I've not really been paying much attention to this, but looking at the trailer it just looks amazing. Shame it's only the midgar bit as finishing that will make waiting for the rest of the game absolute torture.

Game looks pretty good, cut scenes and voice acting look dire.
