I probably still will, I'm a sucker for 2 and 3

I really hope they can make the first game not play like absolute horse gooseberry fool. If they could somehow make it play more like two (and take out the dumb RPG style weapon progression) that would be amazing.

I dislike that they removed RPG elements from 1. Look at the cool Place Opera RPG with barely any RPG.

Yeah, because being forced to constantly find guns with slightly higher numbers on was super fun.

It unbalances the combat too. The second two games are more about your strategy than how high your numbers are, yet they still allow RPG style customisation. Not only that but you can take things more at your own pace rather than being forced to engage in RPG stat boosting, if you want to do some side stuff for some nice upgrades, it's up to you, that's far more engaging to me.

Nothing is more immersion breaking than "Oh my number on this weapon isn't big enough so I'm going to lose"

I guess you dislike all RPGs then?

The combat in the first game was great, I don't remember ever worrying about numbers. It needed tweaking but it was a lot more tactical than the following games. I had a Spec Ops rifle that took forever to overheat and it was amazing. And I preferred the floating grenades in the first game too.

No, just action games that tack on RPG elements in a half arsed way in an effort to distract from the bad combat.

I had no issues with the combat or RPG elements. Oh well.

I don't have issues with them, the combat is just very very janky and they try and prop that up with number crunching.

It's no coincidence they got rid of some of the RPG stuff once they made the combat play more smoothly.

I mean, I remember when 2 came out, the general consensus was that the combat played way better, so it's not just me.

I always hated the addition of "thermal clips" in the second game to introduce an ammo system.
In-universe it seemed like a technological step backwards from how guns worked in the first game.

I truly hope they’ve improved the combat system in the first one, closer to the second game’s.

But then this is EA.

Mass Effect 1 was technically horrendous. Textures took too long to load in, framerate was awful so I'm hoping they fix those basics...

If they do remaster these I might take it as another opportunity to try and get into this series. I only ever played some of the first game as I found the writing so incredibly dull and tedious that I couldn't get through much when combined with the gameplay which was also relatively weak.

Why make the first game's combat more like the second when ME3 exists? It had far and away the best combat, it might be the one thing I could argue it excels at with no reservations.

ME2 has really quite dull action going back to it now.

2 is much easier to get into, I agree with ME1, I think I only persisted with ME1 cos it reviewed well and there wasn't many Sci Fi RPG's about on 360 at the time.

I've been itching to play these again and actually get round to Andromeda, But if there's a remaster coming out I'm not going to start on the originals yet!
