2 is much easier to get into, I agree with ME1, I think I only persisted with ME1 cos it reviewed well and there wasn't many Sci Fi RPG's about on 360 at the time.

I think I came to it late which didn't help either. I know that 2 is widely regarded as the better game (even if it did reduce some of the RPG elements?) so if they do remake the trilogy I may be better off just skipping to that!

Electronic Arts still hasn’t revealed Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, and that’s for a reason. The publisher originally planned to launch the remastered trilogy, that I first reported on back in May, with an October reveal and release. But now EA and developer BioWare are pushing that release into early 2021, according to people familiar with the development.

The primary factor holding up development, beyond the pandemic, is the original Mass Effect game. It currently does not live up to the quality of the rest of the package. It would make a poor first impression for new players, and it might disappoint fans who then won’t go on to play and experience the impressive upgrades for Mass Effect 2 and ME 3.

But one aspect those fans won’t get to experience regardless of how much time BioWare gets is the multiplayer. EA doesn’t plan to include the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer in this package.

I'm fine without the multiplayer.

I think they patched out the requirement in the original release that needed you to play enough multiplayer to get the full War Readiness didn't they?

Wonder what improvements they will make to the first game? I know for me I would be happy if they made it play more like 2 & 3

Gunplay like ME 2 & 3, bunkers and buildings that align aesthetically with 2 & 3 and look both lived in and not exactly the same as one another (despite being pre-fabs), get rid of the leveling system and replace the myriad tiny upgrade guns with visually distinct guns that again align with sequels.

I'm really looking forward to taking the Mako out.

As this is 'just' going to be a remaster it's likely it will have higher frame rate, resolution and maybe new textures. If it was released last Christmas it probably would have done great but I wonder if this much longed-for release will get lost amongst the next-gen excitement - unless it also gets a 4K upgrade which would be nice!

Well the EA remasters of Command & Conquer and Kingdoms of Amalur both had quite a bit of work put in so I would hope that means there's quite a lot of improvements made here as well.

There also seems to be a rumour going around about a Need for Speed remaster as well, EA taking their sweet old time announcing these titles.

Yeah, I believe that it'll be Need For Speed Hot Pursuit (2010, Criterion), ibdw, as it has been rated in some countries and a picture of the Switch version packaging cropped up, too.

Hot Pursuit was meant to be pretty good right? Seem to remember it being talked about as a spiritual successor to Burnout after they seemingly just got bored of that franchise. Especially weird when Paradise was a pretty big hit IIRC.

Yeah, Skarjo, Hot Pursuit (2010 version) was developed by Criterion and the game gained a positive reception at the time. The remake (or maybe just remaster?) may have come about because Criterion - incorporating many former Ghost Games staff - are now back in the development seat for Need for Speed.

Uh, EA didn't remaster kingdoms, THQ Nordic own that now.

Unpopular opinion maybe but these games are too damn long and potentially cumbersome to peak my interest 10-12 years later as a repackage. ME2 blew my mind at the time but maybe I'd be better off with the memories than try a 2010 cover system today. From a quick look at the How Long to Beat 'Main + Extra' counts, it would take around that 99.5 hours to finish the trilogy. Hmm.

Huh, I just assumed it was EA since it was on my EA Play subscription from Day 1 and the original was on Origin as well.

Mass Effect 2&3 still play really well, waded through them both recently.
Pretty annoyed that they’ve not brought the multiplayer back, it’s great.

They must have struck some kind of deal as the game still has mass effect inspired bonus armour in it

Having never played a Mass Effect game, or really having much idea what they're about, is this pack worth it, assuming a £49.99 RRP?

One was really good for its time (not sure how it's aged) and 2 was one of the best games from last gen and one of the best WRPGs I've ever played, 3 was worse than 2 and the ending actively ignored big choices you made in the previous games that were meant to be pivotal.

I'd buy it again to play 1 and 2.

Awesome, ta.

Assuming that, you know, this is actually happening. :shifty:
