The extended cut version of that track is even better too from what I remember. ME3's soundtrack as a whole is actually pretty underrated.

Was there ever the opportunity to change her racist views? She's so horrible that I want to buy this trilogy purely to let her die all over again.

Don't worry, I didn't bring her on a single mission, didn't even distribute her points, then let her die

Cared more about Nihlus and Jenkins than her

I took her on enough to get the achievement for 5 assignments with her then binned her.

Kind of. You can sway her opinion later on to the point she'll actually advocate saving the council at the end of ME1. It's been a while but I think conversely, you can also convince Kaidan to be more distrustful of aliens.

Ashley's conservatism is unacceptable but I've never understood the concentrated ire directed at her in particular when most of the trilogy's party members are kinda, sorta pieces of gooseberry fool. Garrus is a straight up proto-fascist who spends most of the first game bitching that he has to follow rules as a police officer, and even if you decide to challenge his attitude towards bending the law, he decides to just ignore all that and head off to go murder poor people on Omega in ME2.

But he has a silky voice

Btw I just found out you can literally just not recruit Garrus and Wrex in ME1

You can turn them down and you'll never see Wrex again and when you meet Garrus in ME2 he'll have different dialogue. Pretty cool.

Crumbled and bought this last night on my XSX after watching a DF YT video which praised the XSXs consistent performance over all other consoles even at 120fps @1440 or 60fps @4k

Looking forward to getting back into this properly over the next few weeks. Loved ME1 & 2 (and still have those installed on my XSX external HDD :fp: )but never did play ME3 (original also still installed on the external HDD).

Every day I'm tempted to buy this. Does it hold up or do you need to wear rose tinted specs while playing?

I'm in exactly the same boat / ship. I'm thinking playing Andromeda first as its on Game Pass to test the waters. Is that a bad idea? I have heard its in better shape than it was at launch 4 years ago (4 years......)

Andromeda is dog gooseberry fool. I played it after all the fixes were released and I still gave up on it, it was incredibly boring.

I have certainly heard that opinion on more than a few occasions. I should probably take that as a red flag.

I think the step back from the RPG elements in Mass Effect 2 is a big mistake.

The character skills is so sparse.

Sure but there are like twice as many characters, that's why.

Shepard still has roughly the same with the bonus power.

I could never get into these games. The world, the characters, the writing, it was all just so drab and uninteresting. A good RPG makes me want to explore all dialog options in a conversation and agonise over decisions and character builds, but playing ME1 was an exercise in finding the path of least resistance to get it over with.

What RPGs would you say are a good example of that?

ME1 - Far too RPG
ME2 - For too Shooter
ME3 - Just right. There's a reason people love the MP.

The Witcher 3? Deus Ex? Planescape Torment? Divinity Original Sin II?

They each have different strengths but I'd say that any of them provide a better mix of the things that appeal to me than Mass Effect does.

Sounds more like a taste thing. Mass Effect has one of the most interesting universes out there, but if it's not your style it's not your style

Quite possibly. It just completely failed to draw me in, the writing in particular was very lacking IMO. I genuinely had next to no interest in what people had to say in the game.
