I remember spending ageeeees at the citadel in game 1, on most of my runs throughs. 12 hours seems super quick, good effort.

ME2 is an absolute masterpiece, with the final boss being possibly the only low.

You say good effort, but I thought I was avoiding the experience. Looks like play times vary wildly for this game!

I know people say that the combat is still weak in the first game (even in the LE), but so far it has felt pretty modern to me. The Geth run around in circles sometimes like they have lost their shoes, but I consider that to be a design decision.

Getting to the end of ME2 now and, although I really love it, I still think the story is better paced and more engaging in the first game. They both do a great job of making you feel like a bad ass though.

I never noticed how the basic premise for the first two games is virtually identical.

Mysterious bad guys attacking human colonies

Kinda nice to start ME3 and it's immediately just OH strawberry float EVERYTHING IS strawberry floated, WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO NOW?!?!?

ME2 finished. Tali and Kasumi died :( And I didn't even have sex with anyone :x

It's a shame that I'm more annoyed about missing the platinum trophy than I am sad about a big character death. But that's why devs shouldn't create railroad trophies in RPGs, they cheapen the experience.

I took Kasumi and Tali to the final boss. You do not want them out performing a defensive line. They suck.

Finished ME1 last night. Really enjoyed it. Will probably give it a couple of months before starting the second game.

Was desperately trying to romance Jack before going to bed but I can't be bothered. Will just have to miss the romance trophy and move on to ME3.

Going to take a break first though and probably carry on with Ace Attorney for a bit.

I actually think ME2 has too many companions. It caused the main plot to lose a lot of steam for me as gaining everyone's loyalty threw the pacing off. I'd honestly have been happy with half the number of companions.

If you got everybody to survive, and I do mean everybody, on your first try then post a cool emoji because you are indeed a cool dude.

Back when it first released.

I'm definitely going to give it a month or so before I begin ME3. Replaying the ending for the platinum certainly cheapened the experience somewhat. :slol:

ME2 is the better game mechanically but I still prefer ME1's lore and pacing.

Back in the day, no guides.

Luck, clearly. Maybe, to be fair, I remember them being pretty hammy about ‘urgh, you might want a tech specialist here’ and ‘you might a fighter here’.

I just picked this up for my PS4 Pro. An install of 108 Gb! I've never played Mass Effect before and I'm looking forward to starting out on the adventure.

You're in for a treat, having said that if you don't get on with the first game then don't feel bad about skipping it. I had to the first time I tried the trilogy.

I think the updates have made the gameplay not as ass now though.

Thanks, Fade! I'm looking forward to trying it; and it's about time as I bought the original game back in 2007  .

I played the first of the collection earlier this year and really enjoyed it. It certainly played better than I remember “back in the day”.

I still need to play the third. Finished 1 and 2 back to back but just never started the finale. I did play the original release though.

The 3rd easily has the best combat.

It has a system where you uses certain powers or ammo to 'prime' a target and then another power to detonate them.

For example if I shoot someone with incendiary ammo then biotic charge into them they will explode Inna fireball. It feels so good.

Not to mention there's SO many cool and unique guns.
